Oxfordshire - Multiple Temporary Traffic Restrictions due to Maintenance and Utility Works

What is happening?

Notice of Temporary Traffic Order

Merton, Footpath No.295/5/10

Closure date: 10 September 2025

Date of Order: 22 September 2025

Coming into force: 1 October 2025

This Order continues in force a closure by Notice introduced because a footbridge over the River Ray has significant defects which pose an unacceptable risk to public safety. Works are anticipated to be completed October 2026. This is a 24 hour footpath closure.

The effect of the Order is to close temporarily that part of the footpath as is carried by the bridge. Exemptions are included for emergency services, for Works and for pedestrian access to the point of closure.

There is no formal available off road diversion available. Appropriate signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. (Ref: T16646/AC)

Notice of Temporary Traffic Order

North Aston, Somerton Road

Prohibition of Through Traffic

Date of Order: 6 October 2025

Coming into force: 13 October 2025

This Order is being introduced because of fibre cabling installation works which are anticipated to take until 24 October 2025 to complete.

The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle proceeding in that part of road from No.1 Somerton Road to outside The Manor. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force.

Exemptions are included for emergency services, for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road.

The alternative route for traffic affected by the closure is via the  A4260, B4030, Station Road, Water Street and Vice Versa.

The Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T16199/RMF)

Notice of Temporary Traffic Order

Williamscot, A361

Prohibition of Through Traffic/Waiting/20 mph Speed Limit

Date of Order: 22 September 2025

Coming into force: 29 September 2025

This Order is being introduced because of carriageway surfacing works which are anticipated to take until 14 October 2025 to complete. Working Hours 19:30–06:00.

The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle proceeding in excess of 20 mph or waiting in that part of the A361 midway between Banbury & Wardington. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. The alternative route for traffic is via the A361, Stefen Way, A425, A423 and Vice Versa.

This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T16176/RMF)

Middle Aston, Middle Aston Lane

Prohibition of Through Traffic

Date of Order: 22 September 2025

Coming into force: 29 September 2025

This Order is being introduced because of installation of fibre cables which are anticipated to take until 10 October 2025 to complete.

The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle proceeding in the length of Middle Aston Lane from Grange Farm to Valley View House. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road.

The alternative route for traffic is via Middle Aston Road, Somerton Road, Banbury Road, Oxford Road, Fenway, North Side, Fir Lane, Steeple Aston Road, Street from Middle Aston Lane to Oxford Road and vice versa.

This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T16200/RMF)
