What is happening?
EAST SUSSEX COUNTY COUNCIL
The East Sussex (Footpath Buxted 24, Buxted)
(Temporary Footpath Closure) Order 2012
To protect public safety, the Secretary of State has extended the above East Sussex County Council’s Order made on 21 September 2012 under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following footpath:Temporary Footpath Closure
Public Footpath Buxted 24 will be closed between the junction of Buxted Footpath 23 for 1100 metres to its junction with Chillies Lane. The footpath will be closed to all users. An alternative route is available via Chillies Lane, Footpath Buxted 29, Perryman’s Lane and Footpath Buxted 23b.
The closure will be in force for 12 months from 30 September 2025, or until the works are completed, whichever is the earlier, which after this period will require an extension from the Secretary of State, should the footpath still be unavailable to use.

The East Sussex (Public Footpath Ringmer 17 (part))
(Temporary Footpath Closure) Order 2025
To protect public safety during a housing development, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following footpath:
Temporary Footpath Closure
Part of Public Footpath Ringmer 17 will be closed to all users between TQ 4537 1295 and TQ 4556 1282 for a distance of 220 metres. An alternative route will be available around the western perimeter of the housing development.
The closure will be in force for 6 months from 1 October 2025, or until the works are completed, whichever is the earlier, which after this period will require an extension from the Secretary of State, should the footpath still be unavailable to use.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
To allow South East Water to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Star Lane – from the junction with B2102 High Street to the junction with B2192 Lewes Road.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via B2102 High Street – B2192 Lewes Road and vice versa.
The Order commences 13 October 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 13 and 15 October 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

To allow BT Openreach to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Warren Lane – from the junction with B2102 Lewes Road to the junction with C13 Firgrove Road.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C13 Firgrove Road – B2102 High Street, Lewes Road and vice versa.
The Order commences 13 October 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 13 and 17 October 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Rookery Lane – from the junction with B2096 Earls Down to the junction with U7278 Goldings Lane.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via B2096 Earls Down, Battle Road – C16 Chapel Lane, Marklye Lane, Rushlake Green – C279 Rookery Lane and vice versa.
The Order commences 13 October 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 13 October and 7 November 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025 No.2
To allow BT Openreach to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Under Road – from the junction with A271 New Road to the junction with U7697 Lower Road.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U7697 Under Road – A271 New Road – U7075 Cricketing Lane and vice versa.
The Order commences 16 October 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 16 October 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
To allow Barr Engineering Services to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
East Way – from the junction with U5101 Mount Harry Road to the junction with U5101 North Way.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U5101 Mount Harry Road, Windover Crescent, North Way and vice versa.
The Order commences 15 October 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 15 October 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
To allow City Fibre to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Back Lane – from the junction with C724 Milton Street to the junction with C724 Milton Street.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C724 Milton Street and vice versa.
The Order commences 15 October 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 15 and 17 October 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Arundel Road – from the junction with U5873 Keymer Avenue to the junction with U5870 Bolney Avenue.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U5873 Keymer Avenue – A259 South Coast Road – U5868 Steyning Avenue – U5913 Arundel Road and vice versa.
The Order commences 15 October 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 15 and 16 October 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Caneheath – from the junction with C340 Wilbees Road to the junction with U7083 Tye Hill Road.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C210 Caneheath – C690 Michelham Priory Road – C39 Coldharbour Road, High Barn Road, Wick Street, Station Road – C340 Chilver Bridge Road, The Street, Wilbees Road and vice versa.

(Temporary 30 mph Speed Limit) Order 2025
To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily restrict all traffic using the following lengths of road to a speed not exceeding 30 mph:
Temporary 30 mph Speed Limit
Lewes Road, Uckfield/Lewes Road, Little Horsted – from the junction with U7867 Worth Lane to the junction with U7516 New Road.
Uckfield Bypass, Uckfield/Uckfield Bypass, Little Horsted, Uckfield – from the junction with A22 Owlsbury roundabout to East Sussex National Golf Club.
Little Horsted Roundabout – for the full extent of the roundabout.
The Order commences 13 October 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until the works are completed, whichever is the earlier. However, it is anticipated the speed restriction will be in place from 20:00hrs to 06:00hrs between 13 & 18 October 2025 depending upon the weather conditions. The East Sussex (B2192 Lewes Road, Framfield)
(Temporary 40 mph Speed Limit) Order 2025
To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily restrict all traffic using the following length of road to a speed not exceeding 40 mph:
Temporary 40 mph Speed Limit Lewes Road – from Hay Barn Farm to the junction with U7510 Bushbury Lane.
The Order commences 29 September 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until the works are completed, whichever is the earlier. However, it is anticipated the speed restriction will be in place on 29 & 30 September 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
To allow Southern Water to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Joes Lane – from the junction with A271 Windmill Hill Road to the junction with U7128 Nursery Lane.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C16 Joes Lane, Victoria Road – A271 Windmill Hill Road and vice versa.
The Order commences 26 September 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 26 September 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
To allow UKPN to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Tanyard Lane – from the junction with U7492 Baxters Lane to the junction with C5 Stone Quarry Road.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U7492 Baxters Lane – C5 Stone Quarry Road and vice versa.
The Order commences 29 September 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 29 September & 3 October 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Arlington Road East – from the junction with A295 South Road to the junction with U7220 Whiffens Close.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U7220 Whiffens Close, Meadow Road, The Holt – C210 Arlington Road East and vice versa.

The Order commences 28 September 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 28 September 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Grove Hill – from the junction with C344 Cinderford Lane to the junction with C208 Marle Green.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C208 Grove Hill, Park Road – A271 Hawkswood Road, Upper Horsebridge, Lower Horsebridge – B2104 North Street – A267 New North Street, North Street, Eastbourne Road, Horam Road – C208 Horebeech Lane, Marle Green and vice versa.
The Order commences 29 September 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 29 September & 1 October 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
To allow South East Water to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Hartfield Road – from the junction with A264 Colestock Road to the county border.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via B2028 (KCC) – B2028 Moor Lane – Race Course Road (SCC) – Dormans Road (SCC) – Wilderwick Road (SCC) – A264 (WSCC) – A264 Holtye Road, Colestock Road and vice versa.
The Order commences 1 October 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken from 20:00hrs to 06:00hrs between 1 & 3 October 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
To allow BT Openreach to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
East Street – from the junction with C211 Scotsford Hill to the junction with C14 Coggins Mill Lane.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C14 Fletching Street, High Street, Station Road, Stone Cross – A267 Wellbrook, Wellbrook Hill, Mayfield Road, Heathfield Road, Cross in Hand Road – A265 High Street, Mutton Hall Hill, Burwash Road – C406 Scotsford Road, Street End Lane, Scotsford Hill and vice versa.
The Order commences 30 September 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 30 September & 1 October 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
To allow BT Openreach to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following lengths of road;
Temporary Road Closures
School Hill – from the junction with B2096 Cade Street to the junction with C589 Old Heathfield Road. Portland Square – from the junction with C406 School Hill to the junction with B2096 Cade Street.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C589 Old Heathfield Road – B2096 Cade Street and vice versa.
The Order commences 26 September 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 26 September 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C11 Hadlow Down Road, Walshes Road, Fermor Road – C254 Hurtis Hill, Sheep Plain – A26 Beacon Road, Uckfield Road – C402 Chillies Lane, Hurstwood Road – A272 Station Road, High Street, Pound Green, The Toll, Curtains Hill, Main Road – C11 School Lane – C270 Five Chimneys Lane and vice versa.
The Order commences 1 October 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 1 & 2 October 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

EAST SUSSEX COUNTY COUNCIL (PROHIBITION AND RESTRICTION OF WAITING, NO STOPPING, LOADING, UNLOADING AND PARKING PLACES)
(LEWES DISTRICT CONSOLIDATION) ORDER 2025 AMENDMENT 1 2025
Notice is hereby given that East Sussex County Council have made the above Order on 26 September 2025, under the relevant sections of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, and all other enabling powers coming into operation on 29 September 2025 which introduces, amends and revokes various restrictions along the following lengths of roads:
Replacement of a section of Permit Holder Parking Places, Monday to Saturday, 8am-8pm with a Disabled Persons Parking Place 8am-8pm maximum stay 3 hours no return within 1 hour in the following road: Lewes – Albion Street.
Removal of a section Time limited Parking Places, Monday to Saturday, 8am-6pm and its replacement of Prohibition of Waiting at Any Time in the following road:
Newhaven – Bridge Street.
Replacement of a section of Permit Holder Parking Places, Monday to Saturday, 8am-8pm and with a Disabled Persons Parking Place At Any Time in the following road: Lewes – East Street.
Replacement of Permit Holder or Pay and Display Parking Places, Monday to Saturday, 9am-5pm with Disabled Persons Parking places 9am-5pm maximum stay 3hours no return within 1hour in the following road: Lewes – Court Road.

Replacement of Permit Holder Only Parking Places, Monday to Saturday, 9am-5pm with Disabled Persons Parking At Any Time the following road: Lewes – Sun Street.
Introduction of School Keep Clear Monday to Friday 7.30am-9:30am and 4pm-6pm except August in the following road: Newhaven – Railway Road.
Replacement of Permit Holder Only Parking Places, Monday to Friday, 8am-6pm with No Waiting at Any time in the following road: Lewes – Valley Road.

The East Sussex County Council (Lewes District) (Off-Street Parking Places) Traffic Regulation Order 2013 (Amendment No.1) Order 2025
NOTICE is hereby given that East Sussex County Council have made an Order on 26 September 2025 under the relevant sections of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”), as amended, and of all other enabling powers, which would introduce electric charging bays in the various off-street car parks within Lewes district.
The proposed restriction would enable electric vehicle users to have access to specific parking in EV charging bays in the car park that would be enforceable. Outside of the restricted days and hours the use of the EV charging only bays will be unrestricted.
A copy of the made Order, plans showing the car parks and a statement of the Council’s reasons for making the Order can be viewed in Reception, East Sussex County Council, County Hall, St. Anne’s Crescent, Lewes BN7 1UE on Monday to Friday between 9am and 4 pm

EAST SUSSEX COUNTY COUNCIL (PROHIBITION AND RESTRICTION OF WAITING, NO STOPPING, LOADING, UNLOADING AND PARKING PLACES)
(WEALDEN DISTRICT CONSOLIDATION) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is hereby given that the East Sussex County Council has made the abovenamed Order in exercise of its powers under Sections 1, 2, 4, 32, 35, 45, 46, 49, 53 and 124 of, and Part IV of Schedule 9 to, the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
The effect of the Order, which will come into operation on 26 September 2025, is to consolidate all previous Traffic Regulation Orders relating to parking prohibitions and restrictions for the Wealden district area into one Order.
A copy of the Order, a statement of reasons for making the Order and this public notice may be examined during the usual office hours at the following locations: East Sussex County Council, County Hall, Lewes, BN7 1UE
Anyone may, by application to the High Court within 6 weeks of the date of publication of this Notice, challenge the validity of the Orders or of any provision contained in them on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or any instrument made thereunder, or that there has been a failure to comply with any statutory requirement to the Orders.
