Ellenhall Bridge, Temporary Road Closure Due To Bridge Maintenance Works
What is happening?
CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (C2023, ELLENHALL BRIDGE, NEAR GILCRUX) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF ALL TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable bridge maintenance works to be carried out on Ellenhall Bridge ("the Works"), Cumberland Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic (i.e. vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists), from proceeding along that section of the C2023, near Gilcrux, from its junction with the C2024, Gilcrux Road, extending in an overall southerly direction for approx. 30 metres.
A suitable alternative route for vehicles will be signed and available via the unrestricted section of the C2023, C2001 Gilcrux to Greengill, C2003 Crosby Villa, A596 Oakwrea Bank, and C2024 Gilcrux Road.

The Order will come into operation on 13 October 2025 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restriction will only be required for 4 days, between 0800 and 1600 hours each day, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
