Sunderland Road/high Street - Temporarily Prohibit Vehicles

What is happening?

THE BOROUGH COUNCIL OF GATESHEAD (SUNDERLAND ROAD/HIGH STREET, GATESHEAD) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2025 

Notice is hereby given that the Borough Council of Gateshead proposes to make an Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along the roads and temporarily suspend on-street parking bays as set out in the Schedule below. 

The Order is required to facilitate the demolition of Computer House. The Order will come into force on 13 October 2025. The maximum duration of the Order will be 18 months; however, the works are expected to be completed by 07 November 2025. During the works all vehicles (except vehicles associated with the works and emergency service vehicles on duty) will be prohibited from proceeding along the above road until the works are completed or at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs. During the prohibition there will be a signed diversion in place.

from its junction with High Street in an easterly direction for a distance of 33 metres.

Sunderland Road (Bus Gate West)

from its junction with High Street in an easterly direction for a distance of 117 metres.

High Street

from its junction with Warwick Street, in a southerly, then westerly direction, for a distance of 146 metres.

Suspension of

On-Street Parking Bays

Computer House, High Street

from a point 13 metres from its junction with Sunderland Road, in a southerly direction for a distance of 23 metres.
