What is happening?

(A5093 KIRKSANTON (LEVEL CROSSING), NEAR MILLOM)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF ALL TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable level crossing maintenance work to be carried out (“the Works”), Cumberland Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic (i.e. vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists), from proceeding along that section of the A5093 Kirksanton, from a point approx. 270 metres south east of its junction with the U4074, extending in an overall easterly direction for approx. 50m over the level crossing.
A suitable alternative route for vehicles will be signed and available via the unrestricted sections of the A5093, Millom and A595.

The Order will come into operation on 11 October 2025 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restriction will only be required for 2 weekends as follows:
From 2115 hours on Saturday 11 October 2025 until 0800 hours on Sunday 12 October 2025; and
From 2115 hours on Saturday 25 October 2025 until 0800 hours on Sunday 26 October 2025, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
