What is happening?

Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.
SWALE AREA
Barton Hill Drive, Minster-on-sea. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2025
To allow gas mains replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Barton Hill Drive, Minster-on-sea from 20th October 2025, with estimated completion by 31st October 2025, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed at the junction with B2008 Minster Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via A2500 Lower Road, Forty Acres Hill, Lower Road, B2008 Eastchurch Road, Chequers Road, Chapel Street, High Street, Back Lane and Minster Road.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
College Road, Sittingbourne, ME10 1LA (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2025
To allow water mains repair works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of College Road, Sittingbourne from 20th October 2025, with estimated completion by 22nd October 2025, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between the junctions with Barrow Grove and Manor Grove, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via College Road, Homewood Avenue, Ufton Lane, Epps Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Conyer Road, Teynham, ME9 9EW (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2025
To allow rail bridge works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Conyer Road, Teynham on 12th October 2025, between the hours of 02:00 and 23:59, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed at the rail bridge, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Conyer Road, Teynham Street, Marsh Lane, Deerton Street, Lower Road, Conyer Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Fostall, Hernhill, ME13 9JG (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2025
To allow pole and cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Fostall, Hernhill from 9th October 2025, with estimated completion by 10th October 2025, between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed from the junction with Kemsdale Road travelling in a northerly direction for approximately 250m, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via A299 Thanet Way, A299 Thanet Way slip, Graveney, Staple Street, Staplestreet Road, Dawes Road, Thread Lane, Crockham Road, Butlers Hill and Fostall.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Head Hill Road, Graveney & Head Hill, Goodnestone. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2025
To allow gas mains replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Head Hill Road, Graveney & Head Hill, Goodnestone from 20th October 2025, with estimated completion by 23rd December 2025, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between the junctions with Whitstable Road and Sandbanks Lane, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for traffic travelling north is via Head Hill Road, Whitstable Road, A299 Thanet Way, Thanet Way Whitstable off-slip, A2990 Thanet Way, B2205 Borstal Hill, Joy Lane, Faversham Road and Seasalter Road.
The alternative route for traffic travelling south is via Seasalter Road, Faversham Road, Joy Lane, B2205 Borstal Hill, A2990 Thanet Way, A299 Thanet Way Whitstable on-slip, A299 Thanet Way, Staple Street, Staple Street Road and Whitstable Road.
The alternative route for HGV’s is via Whitstable Road, A299 Thanet Way, Highstreet Road, Monkshill Road, Seasalter Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
A gate marshall will be positioned on Monkshill Road between the hours of 07.00 and 19.00 to control HGV movements due to the narrowness of the road. An additional gate marshall will be sited on Headhill Road during school start and finish times to assist with traffic management.
Lower Road, Buckland. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2025
To allow level crossing works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Lower Road, Buckland from 01:00 hours on 12th October 2025, with estimated completion by 01:00 hours on 13th October 2025, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of Stone level crossing, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Lower Road, Lower Norton Lane, A2 London Road, B2045 Western Link, Bysing Wood Road, Luddenham Hill, Bysing Wood Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Mill Lane, Hartlip. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2025
To allow installation works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Mill Lane, Hartlip from 20th October 2025, with estimated completion by 24th October 2025, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between the junction with A2 Hartlip Hill and number 10, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via A2 Hartlip Hill, Lower Hartlip Road, Munns Lane, Mill Lane and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Milton Road, Sittingbourne, ME10 3EG (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2025
To allow bridge works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Milton Road, Sittingbourne from 12th October 2025, for up to one day, between the hours of 07:00 and 18:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of the railway bridge, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via B2006 Eurolink Way, Crown Quay Lane, A2 St Michaels Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Pond Farm Road, Borden, ME9 8LG (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2025
To allow installation works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Pond Farm Road, Borden from 20th October 2025, with estimated completion by 24th October 2025, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between Denne Court and Aberfield, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Sutton Baron Road, Wrens Road, Hearts Delight Road, Bannister Hill, The Street, Pond Farm Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
School Lane, Iwade, ME9 8GY (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2025
To allow pole replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of School Lane, Iwade from 23rd October 2025, with estimated completion by 31st October 2025, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed from the junction with Basser Hill, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Ferry Road, Sheppey Way, Stickfast Lane, Iwade Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Swanstree Avenue, Sittingbourne, ME10 4QE (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2025
To allow new service connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Swanstree Avenue, Sittingbourne from 20th October 2025, with estimated completion by 24th October 2025, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed at the junction with Highsted Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Highsted Road, Bell Road, Crown Quay Lane, A2 St Michaels Road, A2 East Street, A2 Canterbury Road, Swanstree Avenue and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Wallers Road & Grove Place, Faversham. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2025
To allow bridge examination works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Wallers Road & Grove Place, Faversham from 22:00 hours on 7th October 2025, with estimated completion by 06:00 hours on 8th October 2025, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of the railway bridge, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Wallers Road, Lower Road, B2040 Ospringe Road, A2 Ospringe Street, Grove Place and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
William Street, Sittingbourne, ME10 1HX (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & TEMPORARY ONE-WAY SUSPENSION) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2025
To allow pole and cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of William Street, Sittingbourne from 9th October 2025 with estimated completion by 10th October 2025, between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between number 96 and the junction with Addington Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via A2 West Street, Ufton Lane, Addington Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
The One-Way Order on William Street will be suspended to allow access.
Various Roads, Faversham - Faversham Carnival Parade. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & TEMPORARY ONE-WAY SUSPENSION) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2025
To allow the Faversham Carnival Parade to be held, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of various roads throughout Faversham from 11th October 2025 for up to one day, between the hours of 13:00 and 21:00.
Event Schedule
The following roads will be closed in preparation for the parade, in the vicinities stated below to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
• William Street, Chapel Street & Park Road will be closed between the hours of 13:00 and 19:30, in their entirety.
• B2040 Whitstable Road will be closed between the hours of 15:00 and 19:30 from the junction with Millfield Road to the junction with B2040 East Street.
• Jubilee Way will be closed between the hours of 15:00 and 19:30, at the junction with B2040 Whitstable Road.
The following roads will be closed between the hours of 17:00 and 21:30, in the vicinities stated below to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site. The roads will be reopened in phases as the parade passes through.
• B2040 East Street will be closed between the junctions with B2040 Whitstable Road and Newton Road.
• B2041 Newton Road will be closed in its entirety.
• B2041 Station Road will be closed between the junctions with Newton Road and Preston Street.
• Preston Street will be closed in its entirety.
• Market Street will be closed in its entirety.
• Market Place will be closed in its entirety.
• Court Street will be closed in its entirety.
• B2040 Quay Lane will be closed in its entirety.
• B2040 Conduit Street will be closed in its entirety.
• B2040 North Lane will be closed in its entirety.
• B2040 South Road will be closed in its entirety.
• Stone Street will be closed in its entirety.
The One-Way Order on Preston Street, Market Place, Market Street and Court Street will be suspended for the duration of the event.
