What is happening?

NOTICE OF CONFIRMATION OF PUBLIC PATH ORDER HIGHWAYS ACT 1980
THE NOTTINGHAMSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
ASKHAM FOOTPATH NO.9 DIVERSION ORDER 2025

On Wednesday 17th September 2025 the Nottinghamshire County Council confirmed the above order made under Section 119 of the Highways Act 1980.

The effect of the Order as confirmed is to divert Askham Footpath No.9 commencing from a point, SK 7399 7588, at the junction with Askham Footpath No. 3 and proceeding for a distance of approximately 412 metres in a generally easterly direction to a point, SK 7439 7580, then proceeding for a distance of approximately 90 metres in a generally northerly direction to a point, SK 7441 7587, at the junction with Upton Road on a grass and earth surface of a field edge path and having a width of 1.5 metres throughout the whole of its length as shown on the displayed Map.

A copy of the Order as confirmed and the Order Map may be seen free of charge at my Office at the address below between the hours of 9.00 am and 4.30 pm Mondays to Fridays inclusive by prior arrangement or can be sent out by email on request Countryside.Access@nottscc.gov.uk . 

The documents will also be available to view at the offices of Bassetlaw District Council, Retford Town Hall, 17B The Square, Retford, Notts, DN22 6DE, and also at Retford Public Library, Churchgate, Retford, Notts, DN22 6PE, during their respective normal opening hours until Thursday 6th November 2025.

This Order comes into force on Thursday 26th September 2025 but if any person aggrieved by the Order wants to question its validity or that of any provision contained in it on the grounds that it is not within the powers of the Highways Act 1980, as amended, or on the grounds that any requirement of that Act, as amended, or of any regulation made under the Act, as amended, has not been complied with in relation to the Order, he or she may, under Paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 to the Act as applied by Paragraph 5 of Schedule 6 to the Act, within 6 weeks from 26th September 2025, make an application for the purpose to the High Court.
