What is happening?
NOTICE OF MAKING A PUBLIC PATH EXTINGUISHMENT ORDER WILDLIFE AND COUNTRYSIDE ACT 1981 SECTION 53(3)(C)(III)

PUBLIC FOOTPATH WALTHAM NO. 67 PART EXTINGUISHMENT ORDER 2025
On 15th July 2025, North East Lincolnshire Council confirmed the above order made under Section 53(3)(c)(iii) of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.
It appears to the Authority that the Definitive Map and Statement for Grimsby Rural District (Now the Borough of Cleethorpes) require modification in consequence of the occurrence of an event specified in Section 53(3)(c)(iii) of the Act namely the that there is no public right of way over land shown in the map and statement as a highway of any description, or any other particulars contained in the map and statement require modification, it is expedient that the line of the path should be extinguished.
The Public Footpath that will be extinguished is as follows: approximately 98m-long footpath extending in an east north easterly direction from Church Lane, Waltham to Ordnance Survey Grid Reference 526240 403812 to Ordnance Survey Grid reference 526331 403852.
A copy of the Order and the Order map have been placed and may be seen free of charge at Municipal Offices, Town Hall Square, Grimsby during normal office hours Monday to Friday.
Copies of the Order and map may be bought there at a price of £10.
The Order as confirmed became operative on the date of confirmation but if a person aggrieved by the Order wants to question its validity, on the ground that it is not within the powers of section 53 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, or on the ground that any requirement of Schedule 15 to the Act has not been complied with in relation to the order, he or she may, under paragraph 12 of Schedule 15 to the Act, within 42 days from 25th September 2025, make an application for that purpose to the High Court..
