What is happening?
HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL:
(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF THE FOOTBRIDGE SITUATED ON THE ‘TWENTIETH MILE BRIDGE’, WELWYN GARDEN CITY) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all pedestrians/pedal cycles from using the footbridge situated on the “Twentieth Mile Bridge”, Welwyn Garden City from its junction with Osborn Way south eastwards, eastwards and north eastwards to its junction with The Reeds, a distance of approximately 70m (“the Footbridge”).
An alternative route will be via the footpath situated on the east and west sides of Osborn Way, the footpath situated on the west side of the Osborn Way roundabout, the footpath situated on the north and south sides of A6129 Stanborough Road and the footway situated on the south side of A6129 Broadwater Road. The Order is needed because bridge inspection works are proposed to be executed on or near the Footbridge.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 9 October 2025 for a period of up to 6 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Footbridge.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF OSBORN WAY, WELWYN GARDEN CITY) ORDER NO.2 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the southbound carriageway of Osborn Way, Welwyn Garden City from a point 325m north east of its junction with the Church Road roundabout south westwards for a distance of approximately 325m (“the Road”).
An alternative route will be via Osborn Way, B195 (Bridge Road/ The Campus roundabout), Parkway and Church Road.
The Order is needed because vegetation removal works are proposed to be executed near the Road.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 14 October 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF FULLING MILL LANE, WELWYN) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Fulling Mill Lane, Welwyn from its junction with Oakhill Drive south westwards to its junction with Kimpton Road, a distance of approximately 710m (“the Road”).
An alternative route will be via Fulling Mill Lane, B656 Codicote Road and Kimpton Road.
The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed near the Road.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 13 October 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN VARIOUS ROADS IN WELWYN GARDEN CITY, OAKLANDS, HATFIELD AND WELWYN) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), except for access and to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of these lengths of Roads whilst works are in progress:-
that length of Wellcroft Road, Welwyn Garden City from its southernmost junction with Wheatley Road south eastwards, north eastwards and north westwards to its northernmost junction with Wheatley Road, a distance of approximately 630m.
An alternative route will be via Wheatley Road.
that length of Carve Ley, Welwyn Garden City from its southernmost junction with Bushey Ley south westwards, north westwards, north eastwards for its entire length.
There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.
that length of Chalk Dale, Welwyn Garden City from its junctions with Brooksfield north eastwards and north westwards for its entire length.
There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.
that length of Leonards Close, Oaklands from its junction with Heathbrow Road north westwards for its entire length.

the road fronting Nos.11-15 Rowans, Welwyn Garden City from its junction with Rowans north eastwards for its entire length.
There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.
the road leading to Nos.47-63 Forresters Drive, Welwyn Garden City from its junction with Forresters Drive south westwards for its entire length.
There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.
that length of Marsden Road, Welwyn Garden City from its junction with Handside Lane south eastwards to its junction with Stanborough Green, a distance of approximately 428m.
An alternative route will be via Handside Lane, Lemsford Lane and Stanborough Green.
the road fronting Nos.87-97 Garden Avenue, Hatfield from its junction with Garden Avenue north westwards for its entire length.
There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.
the road fronting Nos.37-43 Rowans, Welwyn Garden City from its junction with Rowans north eastwards for its entire length.
There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.
that length of Roman Way, Welwyn from its junction with High Street south westwards for its entire length.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 13 October 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF WARRENGATE ROAD, NORTH MYMMS) ORDER NO.2 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Warrengate Road, North Mymms from a point 172m south east of its junction with Swanland Road north westwards for a distance of approximately 65m (“the Road”), except for access.
An alternative route will be via Warrengate Road, Hawkshead Lane, Swanland Road and Warrengate Road.
The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
The Order has been made and shall come into force on 29 September 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.
