What is happening?

NOTICE OF FURTHER EXTENSION OF ORDER 

SECTION 14 OF THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 

BATH AND NORTH EAST SOMERSET COUNCIL (PUBLIC FOOTPATHS CL3/70 & CL18/13A, SUTTON ROAD, CHEW MAGNA) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2024

Notice is given that the order made by Bath and North East Somerset Council on 3rd October 2024 will be continued in force with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport in exercise of his powers under section 15(5) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The order will continue in force until the necessary remedial works have been completed or until 9 April 2026, whichever is the earlier.

The effect of which will be to continue to close the section of Public Footpath CL18/13A commencing from a junction with Public Footpath CL18/15 at ST60056179 and proceeding in a generally S direction for approx 355m to a junction with Public Footpath CL3/70 at ST60056146; and the section of Public Footpath CL3/70 commencing from a junction with Public Footpath CL18/13A at ST60056146 and continuing in a generally S direction for approx 517m to a junction with Sutton Road (A368) at ST59976097.

This order is required because of the likelihood of danger to the public, namely the danger caused by a damaged footbridge which requires repair before the footpaths can once again be used safely.
