Ossington Road - Temporary Prohibition Of Driving To Renew The Level Crossing Surface
What is happening?
THE NOTTINGHAMSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(OSSINGTON ROAD, CARLTON ON TRENT)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) ORDER 2025 (N25-303)
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Nottinghamshire County Council has made an Order, under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, in respect of roads at Carlton on Trent in the District of Newark and Sherwood
The effects of the Order will be:
1. Vehicles are prohibited from proceeding in the following length of road:
a. Ossington Road, Carlton on Trent - from a point 20 metres in an easterly direction from its easterly level crossing barrier to a point 20 metres in a westerly direction from its westerly level crossing barrier
2. All existing permanent restrictions will be temporarily suspended as required.
3. The restrictions specified above shall only be in effect when the signs are in place.
IT IS INTENDED that the prohibitions respecting the above road or roads will apply as follows:
From 22:30 hours on Saturday 27th September 2025
Until 09:00 hours on Sunday 19th October 2025 Nightly
AND NOTICE IS HEREBY FURTHER GIVEN that during the period of restriction the alternative route available will be:
a. Carlton Road - Norwell Road, Ossington - Ossington Road, Norwell - Carlton Lane - Main Street - Norwell Lane, Cromwell - Great North Road - Manor House Farm Bridge - Old North Road, Carlton on Trent - Main street - Great North Road and Vice versa
The Order will come into force on Saturday 27th September 2025 and any prohibition in it shall apply on that day and any subsequent day when necessary to enable works to be carried out. The Order shall continue in force until the works are completed (within a maximum period of 18 months).
The prohibition is required to enable Network Rail to carry out works to renew the level crossing surface;
