Dorset, Temporary Traffic Restrictions & Closures Due To Roundabout Construction & Maintenance

THE A35 TRUNK ROAD (MILES CROSS) (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited (a) intends to make an Order on the A35 trunk road in the County of Dorset to allow roundabout construction and associated maintenance works to be carried out in safety. The works are expected to take place commencing on or after 10 October 2025 and be completed by 30 June 2026. The effect of the Order would be:

(a) to impose a mandatory 30 miles per hour speed limit on the A35 eastbound and westbound between the junction with Eype Down Road and the junction with New Street Lane;

(b) authorise the overnight (20.00 to 06.00)

closure of given the length of the A35 at

(a) above;

(c) prohibit overtaking on the A35 eastbound and westbound between 300 metres east and 300 metres west of Miles Cross Junction;

(d) authorise the closure to vehicles under 2.9 metres in width of the layby adjacent to the A35 eastbound 190 metres east of the junction with Star Lane;

(e) prohibit cyclists from the length of the A35 given at (a) above;

During the closures, traffic would be diverted via junctions of the A35 and local roads. Access to and from premises that are accessible from and only from the A35 would be maintained during the works

The closures (which would not apply to emergency service, traffic officer or works vehicles) speed limits and diversion routes would be clearly indicated by traffic signs throughout the works.
