What is happening?

(TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is hereby given that Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council intend in not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended).

The effect of the Order will be to temporarily prohibit vehicular traffic from proceeding along the length of roads set out in the Schedule below whilst the Order is in force. During such periods as are indicated by traffic signs informing the public that the roads are closed.

The Order is necessary to enable Openreach to carry out civil engineering works in the road.

The Order will come into force on the 22nd October 2025 and shall continue in force for a maximum duration of 18 months, or until the works are completed whichever is the sooner. It is envisaged that the works will take an estimated 3 days to complete.

SCHEDULE

Schedule 1
Welfare Avenue will be closed from its junction with Neath Road in a westerly direction to its junction with Coronation Street.

The alternative route for vehicular traffic will be via Neath Road, Bryngurnos Street and Coronation Street.

Schedule 2
The lane to the rear of properties numbered 2 to 16 Coronation Street will be closed from its junction with Welfare Avenue in a southerly direction to its junction with Heol Penhydd.

The alternative route for vehicular traffic will be via Heol Penhydd, Coronation Street and Welfare Avenue.

Access for pedestrian and emergency vehicles will be maintained.
