What is happening?

DARLINGTON BOROUGH COUNCIL

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC AND CLEARWAY) ORDER 2025

WHESSOE ROAD AND LONGFIELD ROAD, DARLINGTON

Darlington Borough Council intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make an Order under the provisions of Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily introduce:

  1. No stopping at any time (clearway); and

  2. The prohibition of the driving of vehicles

On the following roads to allow road resurfacing works.

WHESSOE ROAD

From the north side of Elmtree Street junction northwards to the south side of Mewburn Road junction

An alternative route will be signed via North Road, Burtree Lane and vice versa. It is anticipated that the restrictions will be effective between 1900hours and 0500hours for 7 nights commencing 20th October.

LONGFIELD ROAD

From its junction with Whessoe Road eastwards to the south side of Thompson Street West junction

Alternative routes will be signed via Whessoe Road, Burtree Lane, North Road and vice versa and via North Road and Whessoe Road and vice versa. It is anticipated that the restrictions will be effective for 7 days commencing 27th October.

The maximum duration of the temporary restrictions under this Order is 18 months commencing from 20?? October 2025.
