Carlisle, Temporary Road Closures Due To Carlisle Southern Link Road Construction

CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (C1041 BRISCO ROAD, A689 BRISCO ROAD ROUNDABOUT AND C1041 NEWBIGGIN ROAD, CARLISLE) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF ALL TRAFFIC)

ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable works in relation to the Carlisle Southern Link Road to be carried out (“the Works”), Cumberland Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to all traffic (i.e. vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists), from proceeding along the lengths of road specified in the attached Schedule.

Suitable diversion routes will be indicated on site by the display of relevant traffic signs as and when the temporary closures are in force.

The Order will come into operation on 6 October 2025 and may continue to be in force for a maximum period of 18 months.

However, please note: It is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as stated in the schedule and only as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.

EXTENT OF RESTRICTIONS AND ALTERNATIVE ROUTES

1. A689 Brisco Road Roundabout, Carlisle – From 6 October 2025 for approx. 1 week

   (Ref: TTRO/C/16030)

   For its entire circumference

2. C1041 Brisco Road, Carlisle – From 6 October 2025 for approx. 1 week

   (Ref: TTRO/C/16030)

   (i) From its junction with the C1041 Newbiggin road, extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 130 m to its junction with Brisco Road Roundabout; and

   (ii) From a point approx. 190 m south east of its junction with the C1041 Newbiggin Road at its southern boundary with Brisco Road Roundabout, extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 150 m

Alternative Route for 1 and 2 above: via the unrestricted section of the C1041 Brisco Road, C1017, C1037 Burthwaite Road and the C1041 Newbiggin Road.

1. C1041 Brisco Road, Carlisle – From 20 October 2025 for approx. 2 weeks

   (Ref: TTRO/C/16031)

   (i) From its junction with the Brisco Roundabout, extending in a north westerly direction for approx. 130 m; and

   (ii) From its junction with the C1014 Newbiggin Road, extending in a north westerly direction for approx. 630 m

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the C1041 Brisco Road, C1017, C1037 Burthwaite Road, C1041 Newbiggin Road, C1036 Durdar Road, Ridley Road and Upperby Road.

1. C1041 Newbiggin Road, Carlisle – From 20 October 2025 for approx. 2 weeks

   (Ref: TTRO/C/16031)

   From its junction with the C1041 Brisco Road, extending in a westerly direction for approx. 230m.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section for the C1041 Newbiggin Road, C1036 Durdar Road, Ridley Road, Upperby Road and C1041 Brisco Road.
