Diss, Speed Limit Consolidation & Variation Order

What is happening?

The Norfolk County Council (Diss, Various Roads) (30 mph and 40 mph Speed Limit) Consolidation and Variation Order 2025

The effect of this Order is to:

  1. consolidate The Norfolk County Council (Diss) (30.m.p.h. and 40.m.p.h. Speed Limit) Order 2000 and The Norfolk County Council (Diss and Roydon, Shelfanger Road) (30.m.p.h. Speed Limit Order) 2011. The previous lengths of road specified in Schedule 1 (30 mph) and Schedule 2 (40 mph) of that Order have not been changed apart from the length of the B1077 Shelfanger Road as per the length below; and

  2. vary the Orders to remove the previous reference to the B1077 Shelfanger Road and insert the following length of road to Schedule 1 to prohibit any motor vehicle from exceeding 30 miles per hour:

    i. B1077 Shelfanger Road – From 86 metres north of its junction with the C880 Roydon Road northwards to a point 210 metres north of the centreline of its junction with the U76103 Louie’s Lane.

The 30 mph speed limit on the above length of road is a reduction of 76 metres to the previous 30 mph speed limit length of road. The reference in the new 20 mph Zone Order detailed above has also been updated to reflect this change.

  1. vary the Orders to amend the previous references to:

    i. A1066 “from a point 70 metres west” will be varied to “from a point 50 metres west of its junction with U70203 Denmark Lane eastwards to a point 230 metres east of its junction with U71521 Sawmills Road”;

    ii. U76011 Brewers Green Lane will be varied from “its junction with B1124 Roydon Road north-westwards for a distance of 220 metres” to “from its junction with C880 Roydon Road, North Westwards to its junction with C339 Manor Road, a distance of 780 metres” an increase of 560 metres.

    iii. B1132 Roydon Road – will be varied “from a point 140 metres east of its junction with A1066 towards” to “from a point 140 metres east of its junction with A1066 eastwards to a point 70 metres west of its junction with the B1077 Shelfanger Road” to update the Order in line with the above proposed 20 mph Speed Limit Zone Order;

    iv. U76281 Tottington Lane will be varied from “eastwards” to “westwards” to now state “from its junction with U70203 Denmark Lane westwards for distance of 320 metres”;

  2. vary the Orders to remove the previous reference to the U76270 Walcot Road and U76273 Walcot Green in Schedule 2 and inserted the following lengths of road to Schedule 2 to prohibit any motor vehicle from exceeding 40 miles per hour:
