What is happening?

HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL:

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF VARIOUS FOOTPATHS AND PUBLIC FOOTPATHS IN ST ALBANS, WHEATHAMPSTEAD AND SANDRIDGE) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all pedestrians from using the following lengths of footpath (“the Footpaths” and public footpath “the Public Footpath”):

  1. the footpath situated between Nos.2-38 Willowy Way, St Albans from its junction with the western boundary of No.2 Willowy Way north eastwards to its junction with Driftwood Avenue, a distance of approximately 295m.

    An alternative route will be via St Stephen Public Bridleway No.02, the footway situated on the north east side of Manor Drive, the footway situated on the south east side of B4630 Watford Road and the footway situated on the south side of Driftwood Avenue.

  2. the footpath situated in the rear of Nos.1-4 Mill Walk, Wheathampstead from its junction with B651 High Street north westwards and north eastwards to its junction with B651 Batford Road, a distance of approximately 100m.

    An alternative route will be via the footway situated on the east side of B651 (High Street/Station Road).

  3. the footpath situated on the east side of Nos.43-49 Hewitt Close, St Albans from its junction with Allen Close south westwards for a distance of approximately 34m.

    An alternative route will be via the footway situated on the south side of Allen Close and the footpath fronting Nos.1-7 Allen Close.

  4. the footpath fronting Nos.1-7 Allen Close, St Albans from its junction with Allen Close north westwards to its junction with B651 The Hill, a distance of approximately 199m.

    An alternative route will be via the footway situated on the west side of Allen Close, the footway situated on the north west and north east side of Hill Dyke Road and the footway situated on the east side of B651 The Hill.

  5. the footpath situated between No.27 and No.29 Mount Pleasant, St Albans from its junction with Mount Pleasant north westwards to its junction with Fishpool Street, a distance of approximately 118m.

    An alternative route will be via the footway situated on the north and south side of Mount Pleasant, the footway situated on the east side of Bricket Road and the footway situated on the north side of Fishpool Street.

  6. the footpath situated on the north side of “Jersey Farm”, St Albans from its junction with the footpath situated on the west side of House Lane south westwards for a distance of approximately 299m.

    An alternative route will be via the footpath situated on the west side of House Lane, the footway situated on the north east side of Sandringham Crescent, the footway situated on the east side of Chiltern Close and the footpath situated on the west side of Nos.11-13 Chiltern Close.

  7. the footpath situated on the east side of No.26 Twyford Road, St Albans from its junction with Twyford Road north westwards to its junction with Sandridge Public Footpath No.026 and No.1 (Jersey Lane), a distance of approximately 178m.

    An alternative route will be via the footway situated on the north side of Twyford Road, the footway situated on the west side of Sandringham Crescent and Sandridge Public Footpath No.026 and Sandridge UCR No.1 (Jersey Lane).

  8. the footpath situated to the rear of Nos.7-17 Ripon Way, St Albans from a point in line with the south eastern boundary of No.7 Ripon Way north westwards and south westwards for a distance of approximately 143m to its junction with Ripon Way south westwards for a distance of approximately 57m.

    An alternative route will be via the footpath situated on the north side of No.14 Ripon Way, St Albans from a point in line with the eastern boundary of No.13 Ripon Way north westwards, south westwards and south eastwards for a distance of approximately 59.

    There is no alternative route available for pedestrians when the works are being carried out. However pedestrian access to properties along this footpath will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

  9. the footpath situated between No.24 and No.25 Ripon Way, St Albans from its junction with Ripon Way south eastwards for a distance of approximately 16m.

    An alternative route will be via the footway situated on the west and north side of Ripon Way, the footpath situated on the south side of Sandringham Crescent, the footpath situated on the west side of House Lane and the footpath situated on the north side of “Jersey Farm”.

  10. Wheathampstead Public Footpath No.070 from its junction with Lattimore Road south eastwards to its junction with Wick Avenue, a distance of approximately 212m.

    An alternative route will be via the footway situated on the east side of Lattimore Road and the footway situated on the south west side of Wick Avenue.

  11. Wheathampstead Public Footpath No.070 from its junction with Lattimore Road eastwards to its junction with B651 The Hill, a distance of approximately 84m.

    An alternative route will be via the footway situated on the east side of Lattimore Avenue, the footway situated on the north side of Butterfield Road and the footway situated on the west side of B651 The Hill.

  12. Sandridge Public Footpath No.044 from its junction with Sandridge Public Footpath No.043 south eastwards and south westwards for a distance of approximately 101m.

    An alternative route will be via Sandridge Public Footpath No.043, the footpath fronting Nos.14-20 Mendip Close, the footpath situated on the north side of No.117 Windmill Avenue, the footpath situated to the rear of Nos.97-117 Windmill Avenue and Sandridge Public Footpath No.044.

  13. Sandridge Public Footpath No.027 from its junction with Sandridge Public Footpath No.022 south eastwards to its junction with St Leonards Crescent, a distance of approximately 184m.

  14. the footpath situated on the south side of Sandridge Public Footpath No.022 from its junction with the footpath situated on the north side of House Lane, the footpath situated on the south side of House Lane and the footpath situated on the east side of Jersey Farm.

The Orders are needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Footpaths and Public Footpaths.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 6 October 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs placed on or near the Footpaths.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN VARIOUS ROADS IN ST ALBANS AND HARPENDEN) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), and to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of the lengths of Roads whilst works are in progress:-

  1. Sandridgebury Lane, St Albans from a point 175m north east of its junction with Sandridgebury Public Footpath No.050 south westwards for a distance of approximately 429m.

  2. The length of Sandpit Lane, B651 High Street/Station Road, St Albans Road, Beech Road, Valley Road and Sandridgebury Lane, St Albans.

    An alternative route will be via Hill End Lane.

  3. the length of Eastmoor Close, St Albans from its junction with Dickinsons Avenue north westwards, including the eastern cul-de-sac, a distance of approximately 130m.

  4. that length of Wood End Road, Harpenden from its junction with Crabtree Lane to its junction with Arden Grove, a distance of approximately 351m.

  5. that length of B652 Station Road, Harpenden from its junction with Lower Luton Road westwards to its junction with Arden Grove, a distance of approximately 140m.

  6. the length of B652 Station Road, A1081 (St Albans Road/High Street/Station Road/Southdown Road/B653 Lower Luton Road and B652 Station Road.

An alternative route will be via B652 Station Road, A1081 (St Albans Road/High Street/Southdown Road/B653 Lower Luton Road and B652 Station Road/B653 Batford Road/Marshallswick Lane, Sandpit Lane, B651 St Albans Road, B652 Station Road, B653 (Brookford Road/Marshalswick Lane, Sandpit Lane, Sandridge Road and A1081 (St Albans Road/High Street/Station Road), B651 St Albans Road.

That length of B651 St Albans Road, Sandridge from its junction with Marshalswick Lane to its junction with B651 High Street, a distance of approximately 810m.

An alternative route will be via Beech Road, A1081 (Harpenden Road/St Albans Road), B652 Station Road, B653 Lower Luton Road and B651 St Albans Road, B652 Station Road.

The Orders are needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 6 October 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF VARIOUS ROADS IN ST ALBANS AND SANDRIDGE) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), except for access:-

  1. that length of Beech Road, St Albans from its junction with Valley Road eastwards to its junction with B651 Sandridge Road, a distance of approximately 420m.

    An alternative route will be via Beech Road, A1081 (Harpenden Road/St Albans Road), B652 Station Road, B653 Lower Luton Road and B651 (Station Road/High Street/The Hill/Wheathampstead Road/High Street/Sandridge Road).

  2. that length of Marshalswick Lane, St Albans from its junction with Sandpit Lane north eastwards to its junction with B651 St Albans Road, a distance of approximately 818m.

    An alternative route will be via Marshalswick Lane, Sandpit Lane and B651 St Albans Road.

  3. that length of Marshalswick Lane, Sandridge from its junction with B651 (The Ridgeway) south eastwards to its junction with A1081 (St Albans Road), a distance of approximately 840m.

    An alternative route will be via Beech Road, A1081 (Harpenden Road/St Albans Road), B652 Station Road, B653 Lower Luton Road and B651 (Station Road/High Street/The Hill/Wheathampstead Road/High Street/Sandridge Road).

    The Orders are needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

    If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 6 October 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Hogg End Lane, St Albans from its junction with A5183 Redbourn Road south westwards to a distance of approximately 1100m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via A5183 Redbourn Road, Punch Bowl Lane, Cherry Tree Lane and Hogg End Lane.

The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 9 October 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF OLD LONDON ROAD, ST ALBANS) ORDER NO.2 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Old London Road, St Albans from its junction with Alma Cut north westwards for a distance of approximately 46m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via Old London Road, A1081 London Road, Watsons Walk and Old London Road.

The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 9 October 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN VARIOUS ROADS IN HARPENDEN, ST ALBANS AND PARK STREET) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of Roads (“the Roads”) and to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of the lengths of Roads whilst works are in progress:-

  1. that length of Tuffnells Way, Wood End Road, Roundwood Lane and Ashley Gardens.

  1. that length of Wood End Road, Harpenden from its junction with Wood End Hill south eastwards for a distance of approximately 65m.

    An alternative route will be via Wood End Hill, Tuffnells Way and Wood End Road or via Wood End Hill, Ashley Gardens and Wood End Road.

  2. that length of Barnfield Road, St Albans from its junction with The Ridgeway south eastwards and north eastwards to its junction with Bromley’s, a distance of approximately 373m.

    An alternative route will be via The Ridgeway, Briar Road, Arden Way and Barnfield Road.

  3. that length of Wood/Penn Road, Park Street from its junction with Tippendell Lane north westwards and north eastwards for a distance of approximately 800m.

    An alternative route will be via Park Street Lane, Tippendell Lane and Penn Road.

  4. that length of Ringway Road, Park Street from its southernmost junction with How Wood north westwards for a distance of approximately 50m.

    An alternative route will be via How Wood and Ringway Road.

  5. that length of Ringway Road, Park Street from its northernmost junction with How Wood north westwards for a distance of approximately 50m.

    An alternative route will be via Ringway Road.

  6. that length of Fairway Close, Park Street from its junction with How Wood south eastwards for its entire length.

    There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

  7. that length of Birchwood Way, Park Street from its northernmost junction with How Wood south westwards for a distance of approximately 50m.

    An alternative route will be via How Wood and Birchwood Way.

  8. that length of Birchwood Way, Park Street from its southernmost junction with How Wood south westwards for a distance of approximately 50m.

    An alternative route will be via How Wood and Birchwood Way.

  9. that length of Wych Elms, Park Street Lane from its junction with How Wood westwards for a distance of approximately 50m.

    An alternative route will be via How Wood, Park Street Lane and Wych Elms.

    The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

    If the Order is made and shall come into force on 22 September 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF HIGH STREET, LONDON COLNEY) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of High Street, London Colney from its junction with Waterside north westwards and north eastwards to its junction with A1081 London Colney Bypass, a distance of approximately 1470m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via High Street, Barnet Road and A1081 London Colney Bypass.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 22 September 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF PARK AVENUE SOUTH, HARPENDEN) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Park Avenue South, Harpenden from its junction with Maple Road southwards, south eastwards, south westwards and north westwards to its junction with Park Avenue North, a distance of approximately 481m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via Maple Road and Park Avenue North.

The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order has been made and shall come into force on 22 September 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF ROUNDWOOD LANE, HARPENDEN) ORDER NO.2 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Roundwood Lane, Harpenden from its junction with the western boundary of No.7 Roundwood Lane south eastwards for a distance of approximately 401m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via Roundwood Lane, Knutsbourne Green Lane, A1081 Luton Road and Roundwood Lane.

The Order is needed because utility repair works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order has been made and shall come into force on 23 September 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.
