Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025

On 12 September 2025, Surrey County Council made the above-mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Chessington Road (B284) West Ewell as extends eastbound from its junction with Chessington Road (C164) to the roundabout with Hook Road (B284) and Chessington Road (B2200).

Alternative Route – B284 (Ruxley Lane), A240 (Kingston Road and Ewell By-Pass) and B2200 (London Road and Chessington Road), or this route in reverse.

This Order is required to enable the Council to facilitate loop works and associated works. These works are anticipated to be carried out during the 18-month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 29 September 2025 for 2 days. Advance warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in operation for 24-hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.

Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025

Surrey County Council propose to make the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in the entire length of D2196 Hartford Road, West Ewell. This Order is required to enable Surrey County Council to facilitate capital safety defect works and/or major maintenance works, which is anticipated to be completed as soon as possible within the 18 month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 7 October 2025. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for pedestrians and cyclists will be maintained at all times. Access to premises within the affected length of road, including access for emergency service vehicles to these properties, will be maintained when safe to do so and if necessary via the signed diversion route. Any vehicle found to be obstructing the highway during these works will be removed to a suitable location outside the limits of the works after all reasonable methods have been undertaken to identify and contact the vehicle’s owner.

Alternative Route – D2090 Collier Close and C164 Chessington Road.
