Wiltshire, Multiple Roads, Temporary Closures Due to Various Works

What is happening?

SECTION 14(1) OF THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council intends to make Orders to close temporarily to all traffic:

A) Raffin Lane (Part), Pewsey; from its property known as No.7 Raffin Lane to its property known as No.13 Raffin Lane to enable Openreach to carry out new pole installation. Alternative route via Swan Meadow – Hill Road – Swan Road and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 17 October 2025 and the closure will be required for 1 day. B) Buckingham Road (Part), Chippenham; from its property known as No.29 Buckingham Road for a distance of approximately 108m in a northerly direction to enable Openreach to carry out duct laying works and other associated works. No alternative route is available. This Order will come into operation on 13 October 2025 and the closure will be required for 3 days. C) Post Office Lane (Part), Church End; from its junction with The Croft for a distance of approximately 180m in a westerly direction to enable Openreach to carry out overhead cabling works and other associated works. Alternative route via Post Office Lane (unaffected length) – Summers Lane – A361 – Post Office Lane (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 13 October 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30 for 1 day. D) Church End (Part), Purton; from its junction with C34 to its property known as No.05 Church End to enable Churchman-fenner & Brown Ltd to carry out minor civil repair works and other associated works. Alternative route via Church End (unaffected length) – The Fox – Common Platt – Cowleaze – Stone Lane – C34 and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 13 October 2025 and the closure will be required until 24 October 2025. E) Arms Gardens (Part), Sutton Benger; from its junction with High Street for a distance of approximately 90m in a southerly direction to enable Thornbury Surfacing Ltd to carry out new foot connection and other associated works. No alternative route is available. This Order will come into operation on 13 October 2025 and the closure will be required until 16 October 2025. F) C268 (Part), Wilcot, Huish and Oare; from its property known as Cold Blow House for a distance of approximately 125m in a south easterly direction to enable Wessex Water to carry out section 81/defect - repair/replace cover and frame. Alternative route via C268 (unaffected length) – A345 – C264 – C268 (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 13 October 2025 and the closure will be required for 2 days. For further information please contact Wessex Water on 0345 6004600. Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council has made Orders to close temporarily to all traffic:

G) C111 (Part), Minety; from its junction with Spillmans Cottages for a distance of approximately 600m in a south easterly direction to enable Openreach to carry out works to install ducting, four new boxes and other associated works. Alternative route via C111 (unaffected length) – C15 – A3102 – C111 (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 22 September 2025 and the closure will be required until 26 September 2025. For further information please contact Openreach on 0800 023 2023.

H) C154 (Part), Kingston Langley; from its property known as Barn Cottage for a distance of approximately 274m in a north easterly direction to enable Wessex Water to carry out new connection works and other associated works. Alternative route via C154 (unaffected length) – B4069 – Kilverts Way – A350 – C154 (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 22 September 2025 and the closure will be required for 3 days. For further information please contact Wessex Water on 0345 6003600.

I) C77 (Part), Great Somerford; from its junction with C82 for a distance of approximately 156m in a north easterly direction to enable Wessex Water to carry out defected sewer works and other associated works. Alternative route via C77 (unaffected length) – C66 – C166 – C82 and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 22 September 2025 and the closure will be required for 3 days. J) Chandlers Lane (Part), Bishops Cannings; from its junction with Horton Road for a distance of approximately 45m in a northerly direction to enable Scottish and Southern Power Distribution to carry out tree cutting works and other associated works. Alternative route via Chandlers Lane (unaffected length) – West End – A361 – Horton Road and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 25 September 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30 for 1 day. Orders A to J) will have a maximum duration of 18 months. The closures and diversion routes will be clearly indicated by traffic signs. It is anticipated that the works will take the stated duration to complete depending upon weather conditions. Access will be maintained for residents and businesses where possible, although delays are likely due to the nature of the works.

Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council intends to make an Order to close temporarily to all traffic:

Phase 1: Blain Place (Part), Royal Wootton Bassett; from its junction with Stoneover Lane for a distance of approximately 20m in a southerly direction.

Phase 2: Blain Place (Part), Royal Wootton Bassett; from its property known as No.72 Blain Place for a distance of approximately 20m in a southerly direction.

Phase 3: Blain Place (Part), Royal Wootton Bassett; from its property known as No.58 Blain Place for a distance of approximately 20m in an easterly direction.

Phase 4: Blain Place (Part), Royal Wootton Bassett; from its property known as No.36 Blain Place for a distance of approximately 20m in a southerly direction to enable Bancumm Surfacing Ltd to carry out S278 works. Remedial works and replace manhole cover. No Alternative route is available. The closure will be clearly indicated by traffic signs. This Order will come into operation on 13 October 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 08:30 and 16:30 until 17 October 2025. It is anticipated that the works will take the stated duration to complete depending upon weather conditions. Access will be maintained for residents and businesses where possible, although delays are likely due to the nature of the works. The Order will have a maximum duration of 18 months.

Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council has made Orders to Close to temporarily to all traffic:

A) A361 Southbound Carriageway (Part), Devizes and Bishops Cannings; from its roundabout junction with Horton Road for a distance of approximately 2.5km in a north easterly direction.

B) West End (Part), Bishops Cannings; from its junction with A361 for a distance of approximately 150m in an easterly direction.

And to temporarily introduce a 30mph speed restriction on the following length of road:

C) A361 (Part), Devizes and Bishops Cannings; from its junction with West End for a distance of approximately 700m in a south westerly direction to enable Wiltshire Council to carry out carriageway resurfacing works and other associated works. Alternative route via A361 (unaffected length) – A342 – A3102 – A4 – A361 (unaffected length) and vice versa. Alternative route to West End (unaffected length) – Chandlers Lane – Horton Road and vice versa. The closures, speed restriction and diversion route will be clearly indicated by traffic signs.

This Order will come into operation on 21 September 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 19:00 and 06:00 until 06 October 2025. The speed restriction will be required for 24 hours a day. It is anticipated that the works will take the stated duration to complete depending upon weather conditions. Access will be maintained for residents and businesses where possible, although delays are likely due to the nature of the works.

SECTION 14(1) OF THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council intends to make an Order to close temporarily to all users:

A) Footpath 13 (Part), Purton; from its junction with Footpath 34, Purton for a distance of approximately 244m in a northerly direction.

B) Footpath 34 (Part), Purton; from its junction with the north side of the railway to its junction with Footpath 12, Purton.

C) Footpath 109, Purton; from its junction with Footpath 129, Purton to its junction with Footpath 14A, Purton.

D) Footpath 129, Purton; from its junction with Bridleway 43, Purton to its junction with Footpath 109, Purton to enable Construction of Solar Farm. Raising of existing ground levels by a minimum of 750mm as required by the Environment Agency to guarantee no damage to the existing landfill cap. Once complete, permanent fencing will be installed alongside the footpaths to segregate them from the solar panels. When the fencing has been installed, it will be possible to re-open the footpaths across the site, with designated plant crossing points in place (where the existing road intersects) to allow the PRoW network to re-open and remain functional for the remainder of the construction period. A construction management and safety plan will be provided by the contractors, and they will be responsible for maintaining these crossing points/public safety throughout the works.

Alternative route A/B via permissive route from the junction of the railway line with Footpath 34, Purton and the western perimeter of the field edge to footpath 13, Purton and vice versa. Alternative route C/D via public rights of way and highways and vice versa. The closures and diversion route will be clearly indicated by traffic signs. This Order will come into operation on 13 October 2025 and the closure will be required until 12 April 2026. Access will be maintained where possible although delays are likely due to the nature of the works.
