What is happening?

Highways

 

Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic  Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.

 

THANET AREA

 

A255 Ramsgate Road, Broadstairs, CT10 2DF (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025

To allow water works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of A255 Ramsgate Road, Broadstairs, on or after 13th October 2025 for up to 5 days or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed from outside number 82 to outside number 84, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via A255 Ramsgate Road, A255 Queens Road, A255 High Street, A255 The Broadway, A255 St Peters Road, A255 Broadstairs Road, Green Lane, Fairfield Road, Bromstone Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Addington Street & Albert Street, Ramsgate, CT11 9PG (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025

To allow fibre works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Addington Street & Albert Street, Ramsgate, on or after 13th October 2025 for up to 5 days or until the works have been completed.

Addington Street will be closed outside number 4b to outside number 25, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

Albert Street will be closed outside number 57, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Addington Street, Townley Street, Royal Road, B2054 St Augustines Road, B2054 Grange Road, West Cliff Road, Hertford Street, Albert Street and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Buckingham Road, Margate, CT9 5TT (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025

To allow gas works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Buckingham Road, Margate, on or after 29th September 2025 for up to 33 days or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed the entire length, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any Eastbound through traffic is via Tivoli Road, A255 Grosvenor Gardens, A255 High Street, A255 Ramsgate Road and A254 Ramsgate Road.

The alternative route for any Westbound through traffic is via A254 Ramsgate Road, A254 Queens Avenue, and Tivoli Road.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Downs Road, Ramsgate, CT11 0JP (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025

To allow gas works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Downs Road, Ramsgate, on or after 29th September 2025 for up to 9 days or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed outside number 52, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Downs Road, Chilton Lane, A255 Nethercourt Circus, B2054 London Road, Goodwin Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Ebbsfleet Lane North, Ramsgate, CT12 5DN (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025

To allow railway works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Ebbsfleet Lane North, Ramsgate, on or after 1st October 2025 for up to 6 hours or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed at the level crossing, between the hours of 23:45 and 05:30 only, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

There is no alternative route. Every effort will be made to maintain access for residents whenever it is safe to do so.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Foads Hill, Ramsgate, CT12 5EE (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025

To allow railway works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Foads Hill, Ramsgate, on or after 2nd October 2025 for up to 6 hours or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed at the level crossing, between the hours of 23:45 and 05:30 only, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Foads Hill, Cliffs End Road, Sandwich Road, A299 Hengist Way, A256 Canterbury Road West, Canterbury Road West and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Foreland Avenue, Holly Lane & Dalmeny Avenue, Margate, CT9 3LL (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025

To allow gas works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Foreland Avenue, Holly Lane & Dalmeny Avenue, Margate, on or after 29th September 2025 for up to 26 days or until the works have been completed.

Foreland Avenue will be closed between the junctions of Northdown Park Road and Dalmeny Avenue, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Foreland Avenue, Northdown Road, B2051 Queen Elizabeth Avenue, Northdown Park Road and vice versa.

Holly Lane will be closed at the junction of Foreland Avenue, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Holly Lane, Northdown Road, Foreland Avenue and vice versa.

Dalmeny Avenue will be closed at the junction of Foreland Avenue, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Dalmeny Road, Northdown Road, Foreland Avenue and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Grinsell Hill, Ramsgate, CT12 5DP (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025

To allow water works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Grinsell Hill, Ramsgate, on or after 13th October 2025 for up to 5 days or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed outside number 4 Thorne Cottages, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Grinsell Hill, Cottington Road, Cottington Link, A299 Sevenscore Roundabout, A299 Hengist Way, A299 Mount Pleasant, Tothill Street, Foxborough Lane, The Lanes and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Hengist Road & Carlton Road West, Westgate On Sea, CT8 8PH (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025

To allow water works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Hengist Road & Carlton Road West, Westgate On Sea, on or after 29th September 2025 for up to 10 days or until the works have been completed.

Hengist Road will be closed at the junction of Carlton Road West, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Hengist Road, Ryders Avenue, Dane End Road, Sea Road, Westleigh Road and vice versa.

Carlton Road West will be closed at the junction of Hengist Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Hengist Road, Sea Road, Westleigh Road, Carlton Road West and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

High Street, Margate, CT9 5NA (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025

To allow water works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of High Street, Margate, on or after 29th September 2025 for up to 12 days or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed at the junction of Shottendane Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via High Street, A28 Canterbury Road, Hartsdown Road, B2052 Hartsdown Road, Shottendane Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Preston Road & Manston Court Road, Ramsgate, CT12 5AT (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025

To allow fibre works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Preston Road & Manston Court Road, Ramsgate, on or after 13th October 2025 until the works have been completed.

Closures are planned in 2 phases as detailed below, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

Phase 1 - Preston Road will be closed from 13th October 2025, with estimated completion by 17th October 2025.

The road will be closed from outside the substation to the junction of Manston Court Road.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Manston Court Road, B2050 Manston Road, Preston Road and vice versa.

Phase 2 - Manston Court Road will be closed from 20th October 2025, with estimated completion by 24th October 2025.

The road will be closed from the junction of Preston Road to opposite Fleet Court Farm.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Manston Court Road, B2050 Manston Road, A256 Haine Road, A256 New Haine Road, A256 Haine Road, Star Lane Link, Star Lane and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Turner Street, Ramsgate, CT11 8PU (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025

To allow water works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Turner Street, Ramsgate, on or after 29th September 2025 for up to 5 days or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed outside number 39, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

There is no alternative route. Every effort will be made to maintain access for residents whenever it is safe to do so.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
