What is happening?

Highways

 

Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic  Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.

 

SWALE AREA

 

Dane Lane, Hartlip. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2025

To allow installation works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Dane Lane, Hartlip from 29th September 2025, with estimated completion by 5th October 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between the junctions with Munns Lane and Place Lane, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via The Street, Place Lane and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Four Oaks Road, Faversham. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2025

To allow water pipe repair works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Four Oaks Road, Faversham, from 29th September 2025, with estimated completion by 2nd October 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of the railway bridge, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Four Oaks Road, A2 London Road, Lower Norton Lane, Lower Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Ruins Barn Road, Tunstall, ME10 4HS (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2025

To allow frame and cover works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Ruins Barn Road, Tunstall from 29th September 2025, with estimated completion by 1st October 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of number 40, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Ruins Barn Road, Bexon Lane, The Street, Primrose Lane, Bredgar Road, Tunstall Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Ruins Barn Road, Tunstall, ME9 8AA (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2025

To allow pole and cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Ruins Barn Road, Tunstall from 3rd October 2025, for up to one day between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between Oakwood Farm Cottages and Oakwood House, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Ruins Barn Road, Bexon Lane, The Street, Primrose Lane, Bredgar Road, Tunstall Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Sunnyhill Road, Borden, ME9 8JY (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2025

To allow installation works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Sunnyhill Road, Borden from 13th October 2025, with estimated completion by 15th October 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between the junction with Oad Street and number 1 Alexandra Place, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via School Lane, Chestnut Street, Maidstone Road, Oad Street and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

The Leas, Minster-on-sea, ME12 2JX (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2025

To allow water pipe repair works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of The Leas, Minster-on-sea from 29th September 2025, with estimated completion by 1st October 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between the junctions with Minster Drive and Seaside Avenue, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via The Leas, Seaside Avenue, Wardhill Road, The Broadway and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Winstanley Road, Sheerness. ME12 2FL (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & TEMPORARY ONE-WAY SUSPENSION) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2025

To allow sewer repair works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Winstanley Road, Sheerness from 13th October 2025, with estimated completion by 24th October 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of the Baptist Church, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The One-Way Order on Winstanley Road will be suspended up until the closure point to allow for access only, for the duration of the works.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Strode Crescent, Broadway, A250 Trinity Road, Alma Road and Winstanley Road.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Wises Lane, Borden, ME9 8LR (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2025

To allow installation works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Wises Lane, Borden from 29th September 2025, with estimated completion by 3rd October 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between Wises Cottage and the junction with The Street, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via A2 London Road, Borden Lane, The Street and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Various Roads, Bobbing, Sittingbourne & Borden. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2025

To allow the Key Street improvements scheme to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of various roads throughout Bobbing, Sittingbourne & Borden. This order takes effect on or after 13th October 2025, for up to 18 months or where stated on valid permits. Planned dates will be published in advance of the works on One.Network and indicated by signage displayed on site 14 days before they start.

Works Schedule

Bobbing Hill, Bobbing

The road will be closed at the junction with A2 Key Street roundabout, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Cold Harbour Lane, Rook Lane, Hill Farm View, A2 Keycol Hill, Key Street Roundabout and vice versa.

Chestnut Street, Borden

The road will be closed between the junction with A2 Key Street Roundabout and the access point to the UKPN sub station.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Chestnut Street, Maidstone Road, Oad Street, Pond Farm Road, The Street, Borden Lane, A2 London Road, Key Street, Key Street Roundabout and vice versa.

A2 Key Street Roundabout, Bobbing

The road will be closed in its entirety, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The diversion route for this closure will be announced in due course.

A2 Keycol Hill, Bobbing

The road will be closed at the junction with A2 Key Street Roundabout, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route is A2 Keycol Hill, Boyces Hill, High Street, London Road, Hartlip Hill, London Road, Moor Street, High Street, London Road, Bowaters Roundabout, A278 Hoath Way, Hoath Way Roundabout, Hoath Way, Wigmore Roundabout, Hoath Way, M2 J4 to J5 On Slip, M2, M2 J5 Off Slip, A249 Maidstone Road, A2 Key Street Roundabout and vice versa.

A2 Key Street, Sittingbourne

The road will be closed at the junction with A2 Key Street Roundabout, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic eastbound is via A2 Key Street Roundabout, Sheppey Way, Bobbing Interchange, B2006 Staplehurst Road, St Pauls Street, King Street, Mill Way, Eurolink Way, Crown Quay Lane, A2 St Michaels Road, Dover Street, West Street and London Road.

The alternative route for any through traffic westbound is via A2 London Road, West Street, St Michaels Road, B2006 Crown Quay Lane, Eurolink Way, Mill Way, King Street, St Pauls Street, Staplehurst Road, Bobbing Interchange, Sheppey Way and A2 Key Street Roundabout.

Sheppey Way, Bobbing

The road will be closed at the junction with A2 Key Street Roundabout, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic northbound is via A2 Key Street Roundabout, Key Street, London Road, St Michaels Road, B2006 Crown Quay Lane, Eurolink Way, Mill Way, King Street, St Pauls Street, Staplehurst Road, Bobbing Roundabout, Sheppey Way and vice versa.

The alternative route for any through traffic southbound is via Sheppey Way, Bobbing Interchange, B2006 Staplehurst Road, St Pauls Street, King Street, Mill Way, Eurolink Way, Crown Quay Lane, A2 St Michaels Road, Dover Street, West Street, London Road and A2 Key Street Roundabout.
