What is happening?
EAST SUSSEX COUNTY COUNCIL
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 The East Sussex (Public Footpath Withyham 57c) (Temporary Footpath Closure) Order 2025
To protect public safety following a collapse of the riverbank, the Secretary of State has extended the above East Sussex County Council’s Order made on 7 March 2025 under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following footpath:
Temporary Footpath Closure
The whole of Public Footpath Withyham 57c will be closed between Willets Farm (TQ 5059 3989) and Watch Oak Hill (TQ 5047 3895). Unfortunately, there is no alternative route.
The closure will be in force for 6 months from 20 September 2025, or until the works are completed, whichever is the earlier, which after this period will require an extension from the Secretary of State, should the footpath still be unavailable to use.

The East Sussex (U7547 Snape Lane, Wadhurst) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
To allow BT Openreach to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure Snape Lane – from the junction with U7546 Riseden Road to the junction with U7546 Wenbans Lane.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U7546 Riseden Road, Wenbans Lane and vice versa.
The Order commences 25 September 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 25 and 26 September 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U7889 Turners Green Lane, Wadhurst) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
To allow South East Water to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Turners Green Lane – from the junction with U7538 Turners Green Road to the junction with C272 Osmers Hill.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C272 Osmers Hill – U7538 Turners Green Road and vice versa.
The Order commences 23 September 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 23 and 25 September 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (C82 Newbury Lane, Wadhurst) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
To allow South East Water to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road; Temporary Road Closure Newbury Lane – from the junction with C537 Monks Lane to the junction with B2100 Cousley Wood Road.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via B2100 Cousley Wood Road – C537 Monks Lane and vice versa.
The Order commences 7 October 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 7 and 10 October 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U7545 Buckhurst Lane, Wadhurst) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
To allow Network Rail to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road; Temporary Road Closure Buckhurst Lane – from the junction with B2099 Frant Road to the junction with U7885 Partridges Lane.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via B2099 Frant Road, Riverhall Hill – U7885 Partridges Lane and vice versa.
The Order commences 6 October 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier.
However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 6 October 2025 and 31 March 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.
