What is happening?

Essex County Council

(Braintree District) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On-Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) (Amendment No.51) Order 202x

Notice is hereby given Colchester City Council acting on behalf of the North Essex Parking Partnership in exercise of the delegated powers of the traffic authority Essex County Council granted under an Agreement dated 1st July 2022 proposes to make the above Order under Sections 1(1), 2(1) to (3), 4 (1), 4(2), 32, 35,45,46,49 and 53 and Parts III and IV of schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984

The effect of the Order:

  1. To introduce No Waiting at Any Time restrictions on Alexander Road, Sible Hedingham at the junctions of St Peters View and Recreation Road.

This Order will be incorporated into The Essex County Council (Braintree District) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On-Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019 by replacing tile numbers TL775 340 revision 0 with revision 1

(Braintree Road, Gosfield) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Braintree Road, Gosfield in the District of Braintree, from its junction with Petersfield Lane for a distance of approximately 25m in a south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 16th October 2025 for 2 nights (19:00–06:00), or where stated on a valid permit (AD03063301012 – Anglian Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while meter maintenance works are undertaken by Anglian Water.

An alternative route is available via A131, A1124 and vice versa (with access only into A1017).

The Order will come into effect on 25th September 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Dyers End/Finchingfield Road, Stambourne/Robinhood End, Toppesfield & Robinhood End/Finchingfield Road – Howe Street to Dyers End – ZC161, Finchingfield)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Dyers End/Finchingfield Road, Stambourne/Robinhood End, Toppesfield & Robinhood End/Finchingfield Road – Howe Street to Dyers End–ZC12, Finchingfield in the District of Braintree, from the junction with Great Yeldham Road to the junction with Colemans Farm Lane a distance of approximately 4635m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 29th September 2025 for 4 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC008WG4N710BSB/01/02/03 & 04 – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while overhead cabling works are undertaken by Openreach.

An alternative route is available via Upper Howe Street, Howe Street, B1057, Stambourne Road, Cornish Hall End Road, Chapel End Way, Mill Road, Church Road and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 11th September 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Long Green, Cressing) (Temporary Introduction of a 40mph/30mph Speed Restriction) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

    1. To temporarily introduce a 40mph speed restriction in that length of Long Green, Cressing in the District of Braintree, from a point approximately 25m south east of its junction with Galley Roundabout for a distance of approximately 375m in a south easterly direction.

  1. To temporarily introduce a 30mph speed restriction in that length of Long Green, Cressing in the District of Braintree from a point approximately 400m south east of its junction with Galley Roundabout for a distance of approximately 155m in a south easterly direction.

The restrictions are scheduled to continue from 12th September 2025 for 230 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP02231010033 – Persimmon Homes). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new roundabout construction works are undertaken by Persimmon Homes.

The Order came into effect on 12th September 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
