What is happening?
THE CITY OF SUNDERLAND (CLOSURE OF ROCHDALE STREET HETTON-LE-HOLE) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2025
Sunderland City Council gives notice that it intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit all vehicles along Rochdale Street, Hetton-le-Hole, for its entire extent. The Order is required to facilitate electricity cable installation works on or near the road. The Order will come into operation on 17th November 2025. The maximum duration of the closure under the Order will be 18 months, however it is estimated the closure will only be for approximately 33 days from the commencement of the works. All vehicles will be prohibited from the above road (except vehicles involved in the works and emergency service vehicles on duty and attending an emergency call) until the works are completed or at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs. Vehicular access for affected residents will be maintained throughout the closure where possible. Alternative routes will be provided via the adjacent highway network.
