Cumberland, Temporary Road Closures Due To Highway Works
What is happening?
CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (B5291 BASSENTHWAITE AND U2199 LORTON) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable highway works to be carried out (“the Works”), Cumberland Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the following sections of road:
B5291, Bassenthwaite, from its junction with the A591, extending in a south westerly direction for approx. 580m.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of the B5291, A66, Keswick Bypass and the A591.
Duration: From 6 October 2025 for approx. 11 days (Ref: TTROC/15628)
U2199, Lorton from its junction with the U2207, extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 25m.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of the U2199 and the B5292.
Duration: From 27 October 2025 for approx. 1 day (Ref: TTROC/15544)
A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times

The Order will come into operation on 6 October 2025 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as detailed above, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
