A14 Trunk Road - Temporary Restriction And Prohibition of Traffic For Carriageway Resurfacing Works

What is happening?

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14(1)(A), (7) AND PARAGRAPH 27(1) OF SCHEDULE 9
THE A14 TRUNK ROAD (JUNCTION 33 MILTON INTERCHANGE, CAMBRIDGESHIRE TO JUNCTION 42 WESTLEY INTERCHANGE, SUFFOLK) (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 202_

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited(a) intends to make an Order on the A14 Trunk Road in the Counties of Cambridgeshire and Suffolk to enable carriageway resurfacing, the renewal of road markings and drainage works to be carried out in safety.

The works would take place over approximately 3 months, using lane closures, starting on or after Monday 6 October 2025.

The effect of the Order on the A14, for 24 hours daily, would be to –

1. Impose a speed restriction of 50 miles per hour on the -

i. eastbound carriageway from the point where the A11 merges with the A14 at J36 Nine Mile Hill Interchange to the exit slip road at J38 Water Hall Interchange and

ii. westbound carriageway from the entry slip road at J38 Water Hall Interchange to the exit slip road at J36 Nine Mile Hill Interchange, and

2. Close all lay-bys adjacent to the eastbound and westbound carriageways between J33 Milton Interchange and J42 Westley Interchange.

The temporary mandatory speed limit (which would not apply to emergency service or special force vehicles), and lay-by closures (which would not apply to works, emergency service, traffic officer or winter maintenance vehicles) would be clearly indicated by traffic signs.

The Order would come into force on 6 October 2025 and may continue in force until the works detailed above have been completed, or for a maximum duration of eighteen months whichever is the earlier.
