Reading, Multiple Roads, Temporary Closures Due To Various Works
What is happening?
READING BOROUGH COUNCIL
(OXFORD ROAD) (TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE) ORDER 2025
Reading Borough Council intend to make an Order in accordance with section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to temporarily close the length of Oxford Road extending approx. 10m on both sides of the Reading West Railbridge. If made, the Order will come into force from 21:00hrs on 28 September to 05:00hrs on 29 September 2025. Should the works take longer than expected the restriction will remain in force for up to 18 months or until the completion of the works, whichever is earlier. The Order is necessary for a bridge safety inspection. A signed diversion route will be in place throughout.
(KENTWOOD HILL) (TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE) ORDER 2025
Reading Borough Council intend to make an Order in accordance with section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to temporarily close the length of Kentwood Hill from outside Kentwood House for approx. 30m. If made, the Order will come into force on 1 October 2025 from 20:00hrs to 23:59hrs. Should the works take longer than expected the restriction will remain in force for up to 18 months or until the completion of the works, whichever is earlier. The Order is necessary to replace a sewer cover in the carriageway. A signed diversion route will be in place throughout.
(MILL ROAD, CAVERSHAM) (TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2025
Reading Borough Council intend to make an Order in accordance with section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be as follows.
To temporarily suspend the double yellow line restriction on the following lengths of Mill Road:
from its junction with Mill Green to outside 4 Heron Island;
outside numbers 30-32; and
opposite 145 Queens Road.
To temporarily impose a no stopping or waiting at any time restriction on the following lengths of Mill Road:
from outside and opposite 30 Mill Road to 5 Heron Island; and
opposite 145 Queens Road.
If made, the Order will come into force from 29 September–12 October 2025.
The provisions of the Order shall only apply on the above dates when indicated on site by the presence of appropriate traffic signs in accordance with the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016.
Should the works take longer than expected the restriction will remain in force for up to 18 months or until the completion of the works, whichever is earlier. The Order is necessary to facilitate gas works.
(VARIOUS ROADS, READING) (TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTIONS FOR RESURFACING) ORDER 2025
Reading Borough Council has made an Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, to allow temporary carriageway works to be carried out. The effect of the Order will be to temporarily suspend and introduce various traffic restrictions on the lengths of roads listed in the schedule below. These measures will be implemented when indicated, using rolling road closures and in accordance with traffic signs prescribed by the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016. The Order will come into force from 29 September 2025 as and when required for up to 18 months or until the completion of the works, whichever is earlier. The Order is necessary in the interests of public safety to allow highway resurfacing works to be carried out. A signed diversion route will be in place throughout.
