Hampshire, Temporary Traffic Restrictions Due To Carriageway Repair Works

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS

Notice is hereby given that National Highways Limited intends to make an Order on the M3 Motorway in the county of Hampshire, under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road.

The effect of the Order would be to: -

a) Authorise the overnight closure of the London-bound carriageway of the M3 between Junction 6 (A339) and Junction 5 (A287), and all roads leading to and from this length of carriageway;

b) Impose a 24-hour 50 miles per hour speed limit restriction on the London-bound carriageway of the M3 between a point approximately 780 metres east of the centreline of Huish Lane overbridge and a point approximately 905 metres east of the centreline of Blackstocks Lane overbridge;

c) Impose a 24-hour width restriction of 3 metres in lane 2 and 2.5 metres in lane 3 the London-bound carriageway of the M3 between a point approximately 940 metres east of the centreline of Greywell Road overbridge and a point approximately 553 metres east of the centreline of Blackstocks Lane overbridge;

d) Authorise the overnight closure of the slip road:-

    (a) leading from the London-bound carriageway of the M3 at Junction 5 (A287); and

    (b) leading to the coastbound carriageway of the M3 at Junction 5 (A287).

e) Suspend the regulation 12 of the Motorway Regulations to allow heavy goods vehicles to travel in the outside lane on: -

    (a) the London-bound carriageway of the M3 between a point approximately 35 metres east of the centreline of Heather Row Lane overbridge and a point approximately 119 metres east of the centreline of the westmost A287 overbridge;

    (b) the coastbound carriageway of the M3 between a point approximately 130 metres west of the centreline of Trotters Lane underbridge and a point approximately 804 metres west of the centreline of the westmost A287 overbridge.

These measures would be in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake carriageway repair works and all associated works.

It is expected that the works would last approximately 2 months. The overnight closures would start at 20:00 and end at 06:00. Please visit the National Highways website for further details.

The Order would come into force on 4th October 2025 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months, ceasing when the works are complete.

Traffic affected by the closures would be diverted using the M3 Spur, the A30 and the A287.

The temporary closures and diversion routes would be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period.
