M4 MOTORWAY – JUNCTION 12

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS

Notice is hereby given that National Highways Limited has made an Order on the M4 Motorway in the Unitary Authority of West Berkshire, under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road.

The effect of the Order is: -

  1. to authorise the extended weekend closure (details below) of the road leading to the westbound carriageway of the M4 at Junction 12 (A4); and

  2. to permit the closure over the same period of the hard shoulder adjacent to: -

    (i) the westbound carriageway of the M4 between the south-eastern overbridge at Junction 12 (A4) and a point approximately 830 metres north-west; and

    (ii) the slip road described in 1. above.

These measures are in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake resurfacing, lining, and studding and all associated works.

It is expected that the work will last for approximately 33 hours starting on Friday 3rd October 2025 at 21:00 hours.

The Order will come into force on 1st October 2025 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months, ceasing when the works are complete.

Traffic affected by the closure will be diverted by using the A4, A339, and A34.

The temporary closures, and diversion routes will be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period.
