What is happening?
EAST SUSSEX COUNTY COUNCIL
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
The East Sussex (U7267 Victoria Road, Polegate)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
To allow UKPN to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1) (b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Victoria Road – from the junction with U7267 Victoria Close to the junction with C40 High Street.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C40 High Street – B2247 Hailsham Road – U7267 Victoria Road and vice versa.
The Order commenced 28 April 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 22 September 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (C708 Hankham Hall Road, Westham)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025 No.3
To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Hankham Hall Road – from the junction with U7100 Peelings Lane to the junction with U7101 Foords Lane.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C708 Hankham Hall Road, Hankham Street, Glynleigh Road – B2104 Hailsham Road – B2247 Dittons Road – C712 Rattle Road – C708 Gallows Lane and vice versa.
The Order commences 6 October 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 6 and 7 October 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (Prohibition of Motor Vehicles)
(Langney School Streets, Eastbourne) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that East Sussex County Council have made an Order, coming into operation on 22 September 2025 under the relevant sections of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, and of all other enabling powers, which will introduce the following restrictions:-
Prohibition of Motor Vehicles
Monday - Friday
Between the hours of 8.15am and 8.45am and between the hours of 2.45pm and 3.30 pm Chailey Close – its entire length.
Redford Close – its entire length.
The purpose of this Order is to facilitate a Safer School Streets scheme at Langney Primary School and is the confirmation of The East Sussex (Eastbourne Borough) (Parking Places, Waiting, No Stopping and Loading Restrictions) Traffic Regulation Order 2020 Experimental Traffic Regulation Order 2024 (Langney School Street, Eastbourne).

Any person wishing to question the validity of the Order or of its provisions on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or on the grounds that any requirement of the Act or any instrument made under it has not been complied with in relation to the Order may within six weeks of the date the Order is made, apply to the High Court for this purpose.
