EAST SUSSEX COUNTY COUNCIL

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

The East Sussex (U6589 Gunters Lane & U6586 West

Down Road, Bexhill) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024

To allow UKPN to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following lengths of road;

Temporary Road Closure

West Down Road – from the junction with U6589 Gunters Lane to the junction with U6586 Quebec Close.

Diversions northbound via U6589 Gunters Lane – C346 Turkey Road – U6576 Ellerslie Lane – U6732 Summer Hill Road – U6582 Broadoak Lane – U6586 West Down Road and vice versa; or westbound via U6582 Broadoak Lane – U6732 Summer Hill Road – U6576 Ellerslie Lane – U6744 Broadoak Lane – U6737 Deerswood Lane – U6744 Broadoak Lane – A259(T) Little Common Road – U6586 West Down Road and vice versa; or eastbound via U6745 Woodsgate Park – U6588 Down Road – A259(T) Little Common Road – U6586 West Down Road and vice versa.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic as set out above.

The Order commenced 21 October 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 22 and 26 September 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U6944 Tanhouse Lane, Peasmarsh)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

To allow Openreach to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Tanhouse Lane – from the junction with A268 Flackley Ash to the junction with U6632 Mill Lane.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via A268 Flackley Ash – U6632 Mill Lane and vice versa.

The Order commences 19 September 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 19 and 22 September 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (C20 Village Street, Ewhurst)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Village Street – from the junction with C979 Tufton Lane to the junction with U6621 Soggs Lane.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C979 Tufton Lane – C97 Yewtree Hill, Adams Lane – B2165 Northiam Road – C19 Bodiam Road, Rock Hill – C20 Shoreham Lane, Village Street and vice versa.

The Order commenced 8 July 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 22 September and 3 October 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (C457 Mount Pleasant Road, Hastings)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

To allow Southern Water to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Mount Pleasant Road – from the junction with C551 Priory Road to the junction with U3199 St Georges Road. A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C551 Priory Road – A259 Old London Road – B2093 Old London Road, The Ridge – C215 Elphinstone Road – C457 Mount Pleasant Road and vice versa.

The Order commences 24 September 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 24 and 26 September 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U6185 Broadway, Fairlight)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

To allow Trooli to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Broadway – from the junction with U6638 Waites Lane to the junction with P6756 Lower Waites Lane. A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible.

The Order commences 6 October 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 6 and 11 October 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U6414 Grove Lane, Iden)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

To allow South East Water to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Grove Lane – from the junction with U6947 Playden Lane to the junction with B2082 Main Street.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via B2082 Main Street – U6947 Playden Lane and vice versa.

The Order commences 6 October 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 6 and 8 October 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U3208 High Street, Hastings)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

To allow SGN to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road; Temporary Road Closure

High Street – from the junction with U3210 Courthouse Street to the junction with U3210 Roebuck Street.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via A259 East Beach Street, The Bourne – U3210 Roebuck Street.

The Order commences 6 October 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 6 and 14 October 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U6629 Moat Lane, Westfield)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

To allow Southern Water to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Moat Lane – from the junction with A21(T) Ebdens Hill to the junction with U6629 Parsonage Lane.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via A21(T) Ebdens Hill – A28 Westfield Lane, Church Lane – C22 Wheel Lane – U6629 Parsonage Lane and vice versa.

The Order commences 3 October 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 3 October 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984, ROAD TRAFFIC ACT 1991 & TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT ACT 2004

The East Sussex (Prohibition of Motor Vehicles) (All Saints School Street, Bexhill) Order 2025 Notice is hereby given that East Sussex County Council have made an Order, coming into operation on 22 September 2025 under the relevant sections of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, and of all other enabling powers, which will introduce the following restriction:

Prohibition of Vehicles

Monday - Friday

Between the hours of 8.15am and 9.00am and between the hours of 2.45pm and 4.15pm

All Saints Lane – its entire length.

The purpose of this Order is to establish a Safer School Street scheme at All Saints Primary School and is the confirmation of The East Sussex (Rother District)(Parking Places, Waiting, No Stopping and Loading Restrictions) Traffic Regulation Order 2020 Experimental Traffic Regulation Order 2024 (All Saints School Street, Bexhill).

CYCLE TRACKS ACT 1984

THE EAST SUSSEX (ARTHUR ROAD TO DOWN ROAD, BEXHILL) CYCLE TRACKS ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT East Sussex County Council made the above Order on 12 September 2025. The effects of the Order are to convert the following footpaths into shared-use cycle tracks (permitted use for pedal cycles and pedestrians);

1.  Footpath Bexhill 140 from its junction with Arthur Road (adjacent to Bexhill Amateur Athletics Sports Centre) to Footpath Bexhill 116 a distance of 11 metres.

2.  Footpath Bexhill 116b from its junction with Footpath Bexhill 140 to its junction with Footpath Bexhill 141 a distance of 36 metres.

3.  Footpath Bexhill 141 from its junction with Footpath Bexhill 116b to its junction with Little Common Road a distance of 29 metres.

4.  Footpath Bexhill 142 from its junction with Little Common Road (adjacent to Bexhill Amateur Athletics Sports Centre) to its junction with Down Road (adjacent to King Offa Academy) a distance of 35 metres.

This Order will not come into force until it is confirmed.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT East Sussex County Council made the above Order on 12 September 2025. The effects of the Order are to convert the following footpath into a shared-use cycle track (permitted use for pedal cycles and pedestrians):

1.  Footpath Bexhill 17 from its junction with London Road, westwards to the eastern boundary of The Workplace School a distance of 39 metres.

This Order will not come into force until it is confirmed.

1.  Footpath Bexhill 85a from its junction with Wrestwood Road north eastwards for a distance of 9.5 metres.

This Order will not come into force until it is confirmed.

HIGHWAY ACT 1980

Shared cycleway/footway for Bexhill Cycle Route A

East Sussex County Council, in exercise of their powers under Sections 65(1), 65(2), and 66(1) of the Highway Act 1980 (“the Act”), as amended, and of all other enabling powers hereby propose to convert the lengths of existing footway, as detailed below, into unsegregated and shared cycleway/footway:

A259 Little Common Road, Bexhill (Southern Side) – from a point 40 metres east of the eastern building boundary of the Bexhill Amateur Athletics Sports Centre, eastwards for a distance of approximately 20 metres.

Arthur Road, Bexhill  (Northern Side) – opposite to No.3B Arthur Road, for a distance of approximately 10 metres.

Down Road, Bexhill (Northern Side) – along the southern boundary of King Offa Primary School, a distance of approximately 65 metres. Then continues into the access road that runs between Down Road and Footpath 17, for a distance of approximately 13 metres on the western side and 9 metres on the eastern side.

London Road, Bexhill (Western Side) – from its junction with Hillside Road southwards to a point joining the subway under the link road, a distance of approximately 93 metres. London Road, Bexhill (Western Side) – opposite Hillside Road for a distance of approximately 20 metres.

London Road, Bexhill (Eastern Side) – from its junction with Hillside Road northwards and southwards for a distance of approximately 8 metres in both directions.

Hillside Road, Bexhill (both sides) – from its junction with London Road, for a distance of approximately 10 metres in an easterly direction.

Hillside Road, Bexhill (Southern Side) – outside No.28 Hillside Road, a distance of approximately 10 metres. Barrack Road, Bexhill (Western Side) – between Chapel Cottage and No.5 Barrack Road, a distance of approximately 50 metres.

Silvester Road, Bexhill (Eastern Side) – from a point 1 metre south of the boundary of Nos.40/42 Silvester Road northwards, for a distance of approximately 10 metres.

Holliers Hill, Bexhill (Western Side) – from the vehicular access of No.2 Crowmere Cottages northwards to a point opposite to the northern boundary of Marston, a distance of approximately 43 metres.

Holliers Hill, Bexhill (Eastern Side) – from its junction with Chantry Avenue southwards to a point 5 metres south of the southern boundary of Marston, a distance of approximately 73 metres.

Chantry Avenue, Bexhill (Southern Side) – from its junction with Holliers Hill eastwards to the western boundary of No.2 Chantry Avenue, a distance of approximately 20 metres.

The Glades, Bexhill (South-eastern Side) – along the northern boundary of No.52 and No.50 The Glades, a distance of approximately 55 metres, ending at the north-western edge of the path adjoining No.54 The Glades.

The above is proposed to provide a safe, continuous, footway/ cycleway in Bexhill between Worsham and Collington which will provide benefits to the wider community and improve the environment.
