Enfield Road - Temporary Prohibition of Through Traffic to Allow Removal of a Rail Defect Works

What is happening?

LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL ENFIELD ROAD, HUNCOAT, HYNDBURN BOROUGH (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025 

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council intend to make an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice. 

1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle to proceed over that length of Enfield Road, Huncoat from 20 metres either side of the Level Crossing. 

2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works. 

3. The prohibition will be operative from 2330 hours on Saturday 4th October 2025 to 0830 hours on Sunday 5th October 2025 or until completion of the works within this period. Access for emergency services will be maintained whenever and wherever possible. 

4. Vehicular access will be maintained whenever and wherever possible. Pedestrian access will be maintained over the Level Crossing. 

5. An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closure is via:- Enfield Road – Station Road – Lower Gate Road – Higher Gate Road – Burnley Road – Penny House Lane – Whalley Road – Whinney Hill Road – Enfield Road and vice versa. 

The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow removal of a rail defect works undertaken by Network Rail. Authority given for this Order to be made: [Ref: HRiT/62387/JW/]
