High Street - Temporary Road Closure To Renew A Stop Tap

What is happening?

Temporary Closure of High Street

Somerset Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, propose to make an Order prohibiting all traffic from proceeding along High Street - from 79 metres south-west of the junction with Church Triangle, southwards for a total distance of 65 metres.

This Order will enable Wessex Water to renew a stop tap.

The Order becomes effective on 2nd October 2025 and will remain in force for 18 months. The works are expected to commence on 7th October 2025 and last until 9th October 2025 between the hours of 00:00 - 23:59 for a total of 3 days.

a) because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road; or b) because of the likelihood of danger to the public, or of serious damage to the road, which is not attributable to such works.
