What is happening?

SUFFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984: SECTION 14 TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE U4720 ALLOTMENT LANE, ASHBOCKING

Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the U4720 Allotment Lane, Ashbocking from the junction with the B1077 for 40 metres northbound to facilitate works to provide a new telecommunications service to a customer. Other coordinated works may also take place during this period. Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

There will be no diversion route

It is intended that the closure will operate on 18/09/2025 from 10am - 3pm but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

SUFFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL (BOROUGH OF IPSWICH) (WESTERFIELD ROAD) (B1077) 30MPH SPEED LIMIT EXTENSION AND REVOCATION) ORDER 2025

On 10/09/2025, Suffolk County Council made the above order for the Borough of Ipswich, under section 84(1)(a) and (2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended.

The effect of this is to:

• Extend the current 30mph speed limit on Westerfield Road (B1077) to replace the 40mph speed limit that exists along part of Westerfield Road (B1077) from a point in line with the northern boundary of property No. 169 in a northern direction for a total distance of 625 metres. The resulting combined 30mph speed limit will be from its junction with A1214 in a northern direction to a point in line with the northern boundary of Elm Cottage for a total distance of 2240 metres.

• Remove the 40mph speed restriction along a portion of Westerfield Road (B1077) by revoking the order known as Ipswich Borough Council (20mph Speed Limit, 30mph Speed Limit, 40mph Speed Limit) (Heavy Commercial Vehicles Exceeding 7.5 Tonnes Maximum Gross Weight, Except Buses - Prohibition of Entry) Order 2006-N3 dated 20/11/2007.

A copy of the order, which comes into effect on 24/09/2024, and a map showing the road affected, may be seen with advance notice at the address below and also at Ipswich Library, Northgate Street, Ipswich IP1 3DE: 9am - 6pm, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, 9am - 7pm Tuesday and Friday, 8.30am - 5pm on Saturday and 10am - 4pm Sunday. To exclude bank holidays and public holidays.

If anyone wishes to question the validity of the order or of any provision contained in it on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, or on the grounds that any of the requirements of that Act or any instrument made under it have not been complied with in relation to the order, they may within six weeks of the date on which the order was made apply to the High Court for this purpose.
