Edinburgh: London Road, Leopold Place Area - Temporary Road Restriction and Traffic regulation

(TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTION AND TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2025 – TEMP/25/108

The Council has made an order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be that for a temporary period, to facilitate carriageway resurfacing and footway works, no person shall: (a) except upon the direction or with the permission of a police constable in uniform, drive or cause or permit any vehicle to be driven otherwise than in a west to east direction on Leopold Pl/ London Rd between Leith Wk and Hillside Cres (east leg); (b) drive or cause or permit any vehicle to be driven on any part of: (i) London Rd (south side) at its junction with Hillside Cres (east leg); (ii) Leopold Pl/London Rd (north side) from its junction with Leith Wk, eastwards to its junction with Hillside Cres (east leg); (iii) Windsor St at its junction with Leopold Pl; and (iv) Blenheim Pl at its junction with Leopold Pl; and; (c) except with the permission of a Parking Attendant, cause or permit any vehicle to wait or load onto or unload from any vehicle at any time on any part of both sides of: (i) Leopold Pl/London Rd between Leith Wk and Hillside Cres (east leg); and (ii) Blenheim Pl from the east kerbline of Leopold Pl southwards and then eastwards for 70m. Existing parking restrictions will be suspended on the affected sections of roads described in (c). The alternative route for through vehicular traffic in relation to: (1) the one-way road on Leopold Pl/London Rd is Easter Rd, Regent Rd, Waterloo Pl, Leith St, Picardy Pl and Leith Wk; and (2) the road closures on: (i) London Rd is Easter Rd, Regent Rd, Waterloo Pl, Leith St, Picardy Pl and Leith Wk; (ii) Leopold Pl/London Rd,Easter Rd, Regent Rd, Waterloo Pl, Leith St, Picardy Pl and Leith Wk; (iii) Windsor Street, Windsor St, Montgomery St, Brunswick St, Hillside Cres and London Rd; and (iv) Blenheim Pl, Blenheim Pl, Royal Ter, Carlton Ter, Easter Rd and London Rd. The one-way and road closure of Leopold Pl/London Rd shall not be enacted at the same time. The bus lanes on London Rd shall be suspended between Leith Walk and Hillside Cres (east leg) for the duration of this Order. The Order shall have effect from 22/09/25 to 21/11/25.
