NEWPORT CITY COUNCIL (VARIOUS ROADS, NEWPORT) (30 MPH SPEED LIMIT) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is hereby given that Newport City Council in exercise of its powers under section 84 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) and any other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police has, on 16th September 2025 made the above Order, the effect of which is to remove the existing 20mph speed limit and replace it with a 30mph speed limit on the lengths of roads specified within Schedule to this Notice.
An exemption will be permitted for military and emergency vehicles only.
The order will come into operation on 29th September 2025.
The order and a map showing the affected roads can be requested by emailing: conveyancing.team@newport.gov.uk.
If you wish to question the validity of the order, or of any provision contained in it, on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or on the grounds that any requirement of that Act or of any instrument made under it has not been complied with in relation to the order, you may, within six weeks from 16th September 2025 apply to the High Court for this purpose.

SCHEDULE
The following lengths of road will be subject to a 30 mph speed limit:
Bassaleg Road: from a point 40 metres north west of its junction with Western Valley Road to a point 100 metres east of its junction with Western Avenue.
Bettws Lane: from its junction with Malpas Road for a distance of 370 metres.
Duffryn Drive: from its junction with Tredegar House Drive to a point 130 metres north of its junction with Jamaica Drive.
Duffryn Way: from a point 40 metres south west of its junction with Morgan Way to a point 45 metres north east of its junction with Mallard Way.
Lighthouse Road: from a point 40 metres south of its junction with Duffryn Way to a point 25 metres south of its junction with Morgan Way.
Morgan Way: for its entire length.
Tredegar House Drive: from its junction with Duffryn Way to its junction with Duffryn Drive.
Broad Street: for its entire length.
Enterprise Way (north–south spur): from its junction with Frederick Street for a distance of 145 metres.
Enterprise Way (east–west spur): for its entire length.
Frederick Street: from a point 20 metres east of its junction with Frederick Mews to its junction with Usk Way.
King’s Parade: from its junction with Frederick Street for a distance of 100 metres.
George Street: from its junction with Lower Dock Street to a point 20 metres north east of its junction with Commercial Road.
George Street Bridge: from its junction with Lower Dock Street for a distance of 55 metres.
