What is happening?
SANDWELL METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL
The Borough Council of Sandwell (Wigmore Lane, West Bromwich)
(Temporary Cycle Path & Footpath Closures) Order 2025 intends to temporarily prohibit cyclists and pedestrians from proceeding along the cyclepath and footpath leading from Wigmore Lane to the south-east side of the Tamar Bridge. A cyclist and pedestrian diversion route will be signed via Wigmore Lane, Newton Road (north-east-bound) to the pedestrian crossing facility at the junction with Hamstead Road, Newton Road (south-westbound) and vice versa. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to be completed by 23/10/2025 effective from 26/09/2025. Purpose – to facilitate access to lay duct for a new 132KV service cable by Excalon Ltd on behalf of National Grid Electricity Distribution.
The Borough Council of Sandwell (Kent Road & Suffolk Road, Wednesbury)
(Temporary Road Closure) Order 2025 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding a long Kent Road, which will be closed from the junction of Remembrance Road to south of the junction with Berkshire Crescent. Kent Road w ill have a further closure in place from the boundary line of property Nos 206 & 208 to its junction with Suffolk Road. Cornwall Close will also be closed for the duration of the Kent Road closure.
Suffolk Road will be closed from the junction of Kent Road to the junction of
Coronation Road. Warwick Avenue will also be closed for the duration of the Suffolk Road closure. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained but only when safety permits. A traffic diversion route will be signed for the Kent Road closure (29/09/2025 – 26/10/2025) via Somerset Crescent, Durham Road, Kent Road, Rutland Road, Coronation Road, Remembrance Road & vice versa. A traffic diversion route will be signed for the Kent Road closure (27/10/2025 – 16/11/2025) via Kent Road, Durham Road & vice versa. A traffic diversion route will be signed for the Suffolk Road closure
(17/11/2025 – 14/12/2025) via Kent Road, McDougall Road, Coronation Road & vice versa. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to be completed by 14/12/2025 effective from 29/09/2025 (24hrs).
