TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDERS 2025 (NORWICH)

Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984

Norfolk County Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, hereby give notice that:

i) THEY PROPOSE TO MAKE Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders in respect of the following roads:

CHAPEL FIELD NORTH – from its junction with Cleveland Road for 26m south eastwards to facilitate replacement of traffic signals between 01:00 and 05:00 on the 23rd September 2025 (may continue until 4th November 2025). Alternative route is via: Chapel Field North, Theatre Street, Rampant Horse Street, St Stephens Street, St Stephens Roundabout, Queens Road, Chapel Field Road, and Grapes Hill. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.

DEREHAM ROAD & WATERWORKS ROAD –

  1. Dereham Road from its junction with Waterworks Road for 60m eastwards and 60m westwards and

  2. Waterworks Road from its junction with Dereham Road for 25m northwards to facilitate installation of tactile paving and signage on the 22nd September 2025 (may continue until 2nd November 2025). Alternative route is via: Dereham Road, Sweet Briar Road, Drayton Road, Mile Cross Road, Heigham Street, Old Palace Road. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.

    HAY HILL – from 5m east of its junction with Millennium Plain to 5m west of its junction with Gentleman's Walk to facilitate remedial carriageway and footway works from 22nd September to 11th October 2025 (may continue until 14th November 2025). Alternative route is via: N/A. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.

    LANGLEY WALK – from 25m east of its joining with Devonshire Street for 35m eastwards to facilitate gas disconnection works from 23rd September to 6th October 2025 (may continue until 17th November 2025). Alternative route is via: Langley Walk, Russell Street, Devonshire Street and vice versa. The works promoter is Cadent.

    LEOPOLD ROAD & EATON ROAD –

  3. Eaton Road from 1m south of its junction with Newmarket Road to 135m west of its junction with Waverley Road and;

  4. Leopold Road from 1m north of its junction with Newmarket Road to 30m south of its junction with Elveden Place to facilitate gas main upgrade works from 22nd September to 3rd October 2025 (may continue until 14th November 2025). Alternative route is via:

  5. Newmarket Road, Daniels Road, Ipswich Road, Eaton Road and vice versa;

  6. Leopold Road, Mile End Road, Newmarket Road and vice versa.

    The works promoter is Cadent.

    MARL PITT LANE, LARKMAN LANE, DEREHAM ROAD, CLARKSON ROAD & BEECHENO ROAD –

  7. Marl Pitt Lane from its junction with Dereham Road to its junction with Knowland Grove

  8. Larkman Lane from its junction with Dereham Road for 60m southwards

  9. Larkman Lane from its junction with Dereham Road for 160m southwards

  10. Dereham Road from its junction with Cadge Road to its junction with C117 Norwich Road

  11. Dereham Road from its junction with Cadge Road to its junction with Clarkson Road

  12. Clarkson Road from its junction with Larkman Lane to its junction with Cadge Road

  13. Clarkson Road from its junction with Larkman Lane for 10m eastwards

  14. Beecheno Road from its junction with Larkman Lane for 10m westwards to facilitate traffic signal upgrades and resurfacing.

    The Roads 1, 2, 3, 7 and 8 will be temporarily closed (except for access) and Roads 4, 5 and 6 will be subject to temporary suspension of the bus lane and Road 6 shall be subject to a temporary suspension of the weight restriction.

    NB: The following roads are anticipated to be closed/restricted on the following dates:

  15. and 2) are anticipated to be closed from 10:00 on 29th September to 17:00 on 2nd October 2025,

  16. and 8) are anticipated to be closed between 19:00 on 2nd November and 06:00 on 3rd November, 19:00 on 9th November and 06:00 on 10th November, 19:00 on 16th November and 06:00 on 17th November;

  17. and 6) are anticipated to be temporarily restricted between 19:00 on 9th October and 06:00 on 1st December 2025;

  18. and 5) are anticipated to be restricted from 22nd September to 23rd November 2025.

  19. is anticipated to be restricted from 29th September to 2nd October 2025.

    Alternative route to Marl Pitt Lane is via: Dereham Road, Dereham Road/Sweet Briar Road Roundabout, Guardian Road, Knowland Grove.

    Alternative route to Roads 1, 2, 3) and 6) N/A.

  20. Alternative route to Dereham Road is via – Clarkson Road, Cadge Road and Dereham Road.

    Alternative route to Larkman Lane is via – Clarkson Road, Mount Road and Larkman Lane.

  21. Alternative route to Larkman Lane is via: Beecheno Road, Gilbard Road, Earlham Green Lane and Larkman Lane.

    Alternative route to Dereham Road is via: Beecheno Road, Gilbard Road, Earlham Green Lane, Larkman Lane.

    Alternative route to Clarkson Road is via – Larkman Road, Cadge Road, Earlham Road, Bowthorpe Road, Guardian Road, Dereham Road/Sweet Briar Road Roundabout and Dereham Road.

    The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.

    ii) THEY HAVE MADE Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders in respect of the following roads:

    MARLBOROUGH ROAD – from 76m west of its junction with Spencer Street for 20m westwards to facilitate water supply replacement works from 16th to 18th September 2025 (may continue until 30th October 2025). Alternative route is via: Magdalen Road, Bull Close Road, Spencer Street and vice versa. The works promoter is Anglian Water.

    UPTON ROAD – from 1m north of its junction with Newmarket Road for 50m northwards to facilitate gas main upgrade works from 15th to 26th September 2025 (may continue until 7th November 2025). Alternative route is via: Upton Road, Melrose Road, Leopold Road and vice versa. The works promoter is Cadent.

    VULCAN ROAD SOUTH AND VULCAN ROAD NORTH –

  22. Vulcan Road South from its junction with Mile Cross Lane to its junction with Concorde Lane and

  23. Vulcan Road North from 20m north of its junction with Burton Road for 50m southwards to facilitate carriageway resurfacing works between 19:00 and 23:00 from 15th to 26th September 2025 (may continue until 7th November 2025). Alternative route is via: Vulcan Road North, Fifers Lane, Ives Road, St Faiths Road, Mile Cross Lane.

    The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.

    NB: Please note that the restriction will take place during the hours between 19:00 and 23:00 only within the anticipated dates period.

Where exceptional circumstances arise, the effect of these Orders will be to prohibit the use by vehicles of the said roads/footpath(s). In the event of the start date being delayed the new start date will be displayed on site in advance. Where an Order is for a reason other than works it is because of the likelihood of danger to the public or of serious damage to the road/footpath. Anticipated dates are listed above. The Orders may continue until the end date where necessary or required. The Orders are revoked based on the end date or on the actual date of removal of the prohibition/restriction where earlier than the specified time. If necessary, the restrictions can have a maximum duration of 18 months. The Orders can be in respect of footpaths, cycle paths, bridleways, restricted byways, and byways as well as traffic (ROAD).
