What is happening?
THE NORFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL
(HARLING, VARIOUS ROADS)
(30 MPH SPEED LIMIT) CONSOLIDATION AND VARIATION ORDER 2025
The Norfolk County Council has made the above Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 on the 8th September 2025 which comes into force on the 15th September 2025, the effect of which is to:
consolidate The Norfolk County Council (Harling (East Harling)) (30 M.P.H. Speed Limit) Order 2006 (“the 2006 Order”) and The Norfolk County Council (Harling) (30 M.P.H. Speed Limit) Order 1997 (“the 1997 Order”), whereby the 30 mph speed limit on the existing lengths of road specified in those Orders have not be changed (apart from the C152 Lopham Road and the C154 White Hart Street/Quidenham Road which are extended as per the lengths below) and;
vary the existing Orders by prohibiting any motor vehicle from exceeding 30 miles per hour along the following length of road(s):
i) C152 Lopham Road – From its junction with the B1111 Garboldisham Road eastwards for 610 metres (an increase of 190 metres which was previously the National Speed Limit);
ii) C154 White Hart Street/Quidenham Road – From a point 100 metres north-east of its junction with the B1111 Church Road/Cheese Hill eastwards to a point 184 metres north-east of its junction with the U32193 Drakes Close (an increase of 119 metres which was previously the National Speed Limit)
The reference to the “U33168 Gallants Lane” has been updated from “its entire length” as stated in the 1997 Order to “From its junction with C156 King Street/Kenninghall Road to a distance of 225 metres northwards” to reflect the previous introduction of a 20 mph speed restriction on the remainder of the road.
The reference to the “B1111 Church Road” has been updated from “From a point 134 metres south-east of its junction with the C150 West Harling Road north-westwards for a distance of 484 metres” as stated in the 2006 Order to “B1111 Church Road / Shopram Road - From a point 134 metres south-east of its junction with the C150 West Harling Road north-westwards for a distance of 530 metres” an increase of 46 metres.

Copies are also available for inspection at Norfolk County Council, County Hall, Martineau Lane, Norwich, NR1 2DH and at the offices of Breckland District Council, Elizabeth House, Walpole Loke, Dereham NR19 1EE during normal office hours. However, online viewing is recommended.
