Birch Walk - Temporary Road Closure To Ducting Works

What is happening?

Temporary Closure of Birch Walk

Somerset Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, propose to make an Order prohibiting all traffic from proceeding along Birch Walk - from the junction with Stonebridge Drive for its entirety.

This Order will enable Openreach to carry out ducting works.

The Order becomes effective on 2nd October 2025 and will remain in force for 18 months. The works are expected to commence on 6th October 2025 and last until 8th October 2025 between the hours of 09:30 - 15:30 for a total of 3 days. 

There is no alternative route for this closure. The works promoter will contact residents and businesses directly to discuss access arrangements.

a) because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road; or b) because of the likelihood of danger to the public, or of serious damage to the road, which is not attributable to such works.
