Hertfordshire - Multiple Temporary Road Closures and Traffic Restrictions due to Works
What is happening?
HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL:
(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS
IN KINGSWOOD ROAD AND BRIAR ROAD, WATFORD) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), except for access and to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of these lengths of Roads whilst works are in progress:-
1. that length of Kingswood Road, Watford from its junction with Sheepcot Lane south westwards to its westernmost junction with Briar Road, a distance of approximately 577m in length.
An alternative route will be via Sheepcot Lane, A405 North Orbital Road, Greenwood Drive, North Approach and Briar Road.
2. that length of Briar Road, Watford from its junction with Fern Way north westwards to its junction with Bramble Close, a distance of approximately 141m.
An alternative route will be via Briar Road, Appletree Walk, Sheepcot Lane, A405 North Orbital Road, Greenwood Drive, North Approach and Briar Road.
3. that length of Briar Road, Watford from its easternmost junction with Kingswood Road south eastwards for a distance of approximately 15m.
An alternative route will be via Sheepcot Lane, Appletree Walk and Briar Road.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 29 September 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF TOMS LANE, ABBOTS LANGLEY) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Toms Lane, Abbots Langley from its junction with Primrose Hill north eastwards, south eastwards, north eastwards, south eastwards and north eastwards to its junction with High Street, a distance of approximately 2355m (“the Road”).
An alternative route will be via Station Road, Home Park Mill Link, A4251 Watford Road, A41 (Watford Road/North Western Avenue/Gadeside), Aerodrome Way, Langley Lane, Tibbs Hill Road, Bedmond Road and High Street or via High Street, Bedmond Road, Tibbs Hill Road, Langley Lane, Aerodrome Way, Ashfields, High Road, A41 Watford Road (North Western Avenue), A4251 Watford Road, Home Park Mill Link and Station Road.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 30 September 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF VARIOUS ROADS AND PUBLIC FOOTPATHS IN CHORLEYWOOD) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effects of which will be:-
To prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following length of roads (“the length of Roads”) except for access:-
a) that length of Berry Lane/Stag Lane, Chorleywood from its junction with Chorleywood Public Footpath No.029 south westwards for a distance of approximately 360m.
An alternative route will be via Berry Lane, Common Gate Road, Chorleywood Bottom, Hubbards Road, Furze View, Rendlesham Way and Stag Lane.
2. To prohibit all pedestrians from using the following lengths of public footpath (“the Public Footpaths”):-
a) Chorleywood Public Footpath No.027 from its junction with Chorleywood Bottom south westwards to its junction with Chorleywood Public Footpath No.028, a distance of approximately 28m.
There is no alternative route available for pedestrians when the works are being carried out. However pedestrian access to properties along this public footpath will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.
b) Chorleywood Public Footpath No.028 from its junction with Chorleywood Public Footpath No.027 south westwards for a distance of approximately 249m.
There is no alternative route available for pedestrians when the works are being carried out. However pedestrian access to properties along this public footpath will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.
The Order is needed because the replacement of existing gas mains is proposed to be executed on or near the Road and Public Footpaths.
The Order has been made and shall come into force on 15 September 2025 for a period of up to 6 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road and Public Footpaths.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF A411 CHALK HILL, OXHEY) ORDER NO.2 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of A411 Chalk Hill, Oxhey from its junction with Villiers Road westwards to its junction with A4008 Aldenham Road, a distance of approximately 80m (“the Road”), except for access.
An alternative route will be via A411 Chalk Hill/London Road/High Street/Sparrows Herne), A4140 High Road, A409 (Common Road/Brookshill), A410 Uxbridge Road, A4008 (Oxhey Lane/Pinner Road) and A411 Chalk Hill or via A4008 (Aldenham Road/ Pinner Road/Oxhey Lane), A410 Uxbridge Road, A409 (Common Road/Brookshill), A4140 High Road and A411 (Sparrows Herne/High Street/London Road/Chalk Hill).
The Order is needed because tree cutting works are proposed to be executed near the Road.
The Order shall come into force on 19 September 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF VARIOUS ROADS IN WATFORD) ORDER NO.4 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”):-
1. that length of Meriden Way, Watford from its junction with York Way south eastwards for a distance of approximately 47m.
An alternative route will be via York Way, Garsmouth Way and Meriden Way.
2. that length of York Way, Watford from its junction with The Turnstones south westwards and north westwards to its junction with The Phillipers, a distance of approximately 370m.
An alternative route will be via York Way, Westlea Avenue, A41 (North Western Avenue/Colne Way/North Western Avenue), A412 St Albans Road, Garsmouth Lane, The Gossemars and The Phillipers.
3. that length of The Gossemars, Watford from its junction with The Gossemars south eastwards to its junction with York Way, a distance of approximately 168m.
An alternative route will be via The Gossemars and York Way.
4. that length of Garsmouth Way, Watford from its junction with York Way south westwards for a distance of approximately 30m.
An alternative route will be via York Way, Meriden Way and Garsmouth Way.
5. that length of The Gossemars, Watford from its junction with York Way north eastwards to its junction with Bowmans Green, a distance of approximately 151m.
An alternative route will be via York Way, The Phillipers and The Gossemars or via York Way, Westlea Avenue, A41 (North Western Avenue/Colne Way/North Western Avenue), A412 St Albans Road, Garston Lane and The Gossemars.
The Order is needed because carriageway improvement works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.
The Order has been made and shall come into force on 15 September 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF FOXGROVE PATH, SOUTH OXHEY) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Foxgrove Path, South Oxhey from its junction with Heysham Drive south eastwards for its entire length (“the Road”).
There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.
The Order is needed because ground and construction works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
The Order has been made and shall come into force on 15 September 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF OLD SHIRE LANE, CHORLEYWOOD) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Old Shire Lane, Chorleywood from its junction with Heronsgate Road south westwards for a distance of approximately 10m (“the Road”), except for access.
There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However, vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.
The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
The Order has been made and shall come into force on 15 September 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS ON THE SOUTHBOUND CARRIAGEWAY OF A41 TYLERS WAY, WATFORD) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the southbound carriageway of A41 Tylers Way, Watford from its junction with Dagger Lane south eastwards to its junction with the A411 Elstree Road southbound, a distance of approximately 290m (“the Road”), except for access.
An alternative route will be via A41 (Tylers Way/Elton Way/North Western Avenue), A4008 Stephenson Way and A411 (Waterfields Way/London High Street/Chalk Hill/London Road/High Street/Sparrows Herne/Elstree Road).
The Order is needed because main works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
The Order has been made and shall come into force on 15 September 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.
