(addition of a footpath)) Definitive Map Modification
Order 2023
On 27 August 2025 an Inspector appointed by the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs confirmed the above named Order without modification under Section 53 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 which takes effect on that date.
The effect of the Order, confirmed as made, is to modify the Definitive Map and Statement for Petworth by the addition of a footpath commencing at footpath 795 (grid reference 505522, 131981) and proceeding in a north-westerly direction for 825M, then turning north for a distance of 476M, then turning west for a distance of 89M. to footpath 797 (grid reference 504913,132976) as shown by the broken black line on plan numbered 01826 and with a minimum width of 2.15M. A copy of the Order and the Order Map may be seen free of charge at Legal Services, County Hall, Chichester, PO19 1RQ and at Chichester District Council, Loxwood Parish Council and Rudgwick Parish Council during opening hours. A copy of the Order and Map may be purchased for £5.00 from Legal Services, County Hall.
If any person aggrieved by the Order desires to question its validity, or that of any provision contained in it, on the grounds that it is not within the powers of Section 53 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, or that any of the requirements of Schedule 15 of the Act have not been complied with in relation to it, he or she may, under paragraph 12 (i) of Schedule 15 to the Act, within 42 days from 18 September 2025 make an application to the High Court.
