Durham, Temporary Footpath Closures For Gas Main Replacement Works

(Oswald Court and Public Rights of Way Footpath 51, Durham City)

(Temporary Footpath Closure) Order 2025

The Council proposes to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, to prohibit all pedestrian traffic from proceeding on the following lengths of footpath. Oswald Court: A 65 metre length to the front of Numbers 21 to 28; a 30 metre length between Numbers 32 and 33 and a 15 metre length to the side and rear of Number 43. Footpath 51: A 178 metre length from the rear of Number 43 Oswald Court, to the rear of Number 18 Mount Joy Crescent to enable gas main replacement works to be undertaken. Throughout the period of the closure, a diversion will be available to pedestrian traffic on alternative footpaths surrounding Oswald Close. The maximum duration of the Order is 6 months. The proposed works are to commence on 19/9/2025 and are anticipated to be completed in 6 weeks. On occasions, alternative dates for the closure may be necessary and these will be signed on site accordingly.
