Wigton, Temporary Road Closures Due To Sewage Pipe Installation

What is happening?

CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (C2048 SYKE ROAD AND U2144, WIGTON) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable works to be carried out to lay new sewage pipes (“the Works”), Cumberland Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the following sections of road:

  1. C2048, Syke Road, Wigton, from its junction with Brindlefield, extending in a generally easterly direction for approx. 210m, to its junction with the U2144; and

  2. U2144, Wigton, from its junction with Syke Road, extending in a southerly direction for approx. 120m.

A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times and suitable alternative routes for vehicles will be signed and available via the unrestricted sections of Syke Road, B5304 South End, Lowmoor Road, and B5305 and also via the unrestricted section of the U2144, A595 and B5304.

The Order will come into operation on 1 October 2025 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months.

However, please note that it is anticipated that the restriction will only be required for 4 weeks and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
