What is happening?

THE METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL OF STOCKPORT (WOODSMOOR LANE, GREAT MOOR AND VARIOUS ROADS PLANNED HIGHWAYS MAINTENANCE PROGRAMME) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) (SUSPENSION OF ONE WAY SYSTEM) (TEMPORARY 20MPH SPEED LIMIT) NOTICE 2025.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Metropolitan Borough Council of Stockport proposes to make an Order not less than 7 days from the date of this Notice under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, the effect of which will be to introduce a Temporary Prohibition of Driving at Woodsmoor Lane, Great Moor - from Level Crossing to Moorland Road.

Diversion via Woodsmoor Lane, Moorland Road, and vice versa, Rose Lane, Marple - from Throstle Grove to no. 55. Diversion via Throstle Grove, Cross Lane, Rose Lane, and vice versa, Heathbank Road, Cheadle Hulme - from Hulme Hall Road to Nursery Road. Diversion via Hulme Hall Road, Turves Road, Highfield Road, and vice versa, Foliage Road, Brinnington - house no. 2 to Foliage Crescent. Diversion via Foliage Road, Monton Road, Brinnington Road, Truro Avenue, Exeter Road, Foliage Crescent, and vice versa, Charles Street, Heaviley - Higher Hillgate to Closure point house no. 123. No Diversion Residents access only, and A560 Stockport Road, Cheadle - from Councillor Lane to Roscoes Roundabout - 2 diversions: Diversion via Councillor Lane, Birdhall Road, Birdhall Lane, Edgeley Road, A560 Stockport Road, and vice versa, and avoidance of arched bridge vehicles above 5m in height - Councillor Lane, Adswood Road, Range Road, Gilmore Street, Shaw Heath, Booth Street, Mercian Way, Edgeley Road, A560 Stockport Road, and vice versa.

The Order will also introduce a Suspension of the One Way System at Woodsmoor Lane, Great Moor - from Belgrave Crescent to Torquay Grove, and a Temporary 20mph Speed Limit at A6 Buxton New Road, Hazel Grove - From Buxton Road/Norbury Hollow Road and A555 Manchester Airport Eastern Link Road, whilst traffic signs to that effect are in place on or near the said roads.

This Order is necessary to allow for planned highways maintenance works to take place. It is estimated these works will last up to 3 weeks.

This Order is to come into operation on the 26 September 2025 and will have effect for eighteen months, provided that if all necessary works are completed within a shorter period this Order shall cease to have effect at the end of that shorter period.
