Swindon, Multiple Roads, Temporary Closures Due To Various Works

SECTION 14 – THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

NOTICE OF TRAFFIC ORDERS FOR TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURES

Notice is given that SWINDON BOROUGH COUNCIL intend to make following orders:

(STRO01184) Health Hydro

This Order is being introduced for works to HEALTH HYDRO and will impose a temporary closure of the footway on Chester Street adjacent to Health Hydro and suspension of parking bays as indicated by signs. Vehicles and pedestrians to be diverted via the opposite footway. The Order comes into force on the 1 October 2025 for 6 months.

(STRO01179) King William Street, Swindon

This Order is being introduced for WALES AND WEST UTILITIES and will impose a prohibition of driving on King William Street at the junction with Prospect Place. Access for Residents to be maintained. The Order comes into force on the 23 October 2025 for 6 months, but works are expected to take place between 23 to 31 October 2025.

(STRO01172) Icknield Way, Bishopstone

This Order is being introduced for THAMES WATER and will impose a prohibition of driving on Icknield Way between West End Lane and Oxon Place. Traffic to be diverted via B4000 at Ashbury to Shrivenham, A420 and A419. The Order comes into force on the 27 October 2025 for 6 months, but works are expected to take place between 27 to 29 October 2025.

(STRO01170) Stafford Street, Swindon

This Order is being introduced to allow OPENREACH WORKS and will impose a temporary closure of Stafford Street between Kent Road and Hythe Street. Access to be maintained for residents. The Order will come into force on the 14 October 2025 for 6 months, but it is anticipated the restriction will only be in place on the 14 October 2025 between the times of 9:30 to 16:30.

(STRO01179) Haydon Wick Footbridge

This Order is being introduced to allow INSTALLATION OF NEW FOOTBRIDGE and will impose a closure of PROW FP HW17 Haydon Wick between Chatsworth Road and Elstree Way. Alternative Route – signed diversion via Chatsworth Road. The Order will come into force on the 20 October 2025 for 6 months but it is anticipated the restriction will only be in place from the 20 to 24 October 2025.

This Order is being introduced to allow OPENREACH WORKS and will impose a speed limited of 30mph on the B4019 as indicated by signage at Hannington. The Order will come into force on the 9 October 2025 for 6 months, but it is anticipated the restriction will only be in place on the 9 October 2025.

(STRO00234) Footpath 10 and 35 Wroughton

This Order is made to allow construction works and will prohibit pedestrians from proceeding along section of PROW footpath 10 from the canal towpath and South Leaze Track and PROW footpath 35 from north of the South Leaze track to the junction with Scott Way, Wichelstowe. Pedestrians to be diverted via the canal towpath, footways on Peglars Way and Scott Way. The Order came into force on 17 March 2025 for 6 months but to allow for works to continue the Secretary of State has agreed to extend the closure until 17 September 2027.
