Hove, Temporary Road Closures Due To Carriageway Tabletop & Lining Works

What is happening?

BRIGHTON AND HOVE CITY COUNCIL

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC ORDER – NEWTOWN ROAD, FONTHILL ROAD & GOLDSTONE LANE, HOVE

  1. NOTICE is hereby given that Brighton & Hove City Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order pursuant to powers in Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended which when it comes into force will have the following effect:-

    For the entire duration of these works the following will be in force:

    (a) The temporary closure of Newtown Road at its western junction with Fonthill Road

    In force only as and when signed:

    (a) The temporary closure of Fonthill Road at its junction with Newtown Road

    (b) The temporary closure of Goldstone Lane at its junction with Newtown Road

  2. The Order is necessary to allow contractors working on behalf of Brighton & Hove City Council carry out carriageway tabletop works and all associated lining works as part of the Safer Better Street Scheme.

  3. Pedestrian access will be maintained, and a signed diversion route will be in place for vehicular traffic.

  4. This Order comes into force on 29 September 2025 for eighteen months or until such sooner time as the works are completed, which is anticipated to be 29 October 2025.
