Leicestershire - To Impose A 40Mph Speed Limit
What is happening?
THE LEICESTERSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(VARIOUS ROADS IN THE PARISHES OF SHEEPY, TWYCROSS AND WITHERLEY, IN THE BOROUGH OF HINCKLEY AND BOSWORTH AND IN THE PARISH OF APPLEBY MAGNA IN THE DISTRICT OF NORTH-WEST LEICESTERSHIRE) (IMPOSITION OF 40 MPH AND 50MPH SPEED LIMIT) ORDER 202
THE LEICESTERSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL hereby gives notice that it proposes to make an Order under Sections 5, 84 and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”), and of all other enabling powers, and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act, the effect of which will be:
To impose a 40mph speed limit on parts of Atherstone Road, Appleby Magna and Twycross Road, Sibson.
To impose a 50mph speed limit on parts of Atherstone Road, Appleby Magna, Atherstone Road, Twycross, Atherstone Road, Fenny Frayton, Atherstone Road, Sibson, Burton Road, Twycross, Burton Road, Wellsborough and Twycross Road, Sibson
Due to an irregularity discovered within the original 50mph speed limit Traffic Regulation Order an update is needed to correct this anomaly.
This is solely an order update, therefore there will be no change on site.
The proposals are shown in plan TM5087/T1/1/A
A copy of the proposed Order, together with a plan illustrating the proposals and an explanatory statement giving the Council’s reasons for proposing to make the Order may be inspected during normal office hours at my offices, Room 200, County Hall, Glenfield, Leicester LE3 8RA and at the offices of Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council, Hinckley Hub, Rugby Road, Hinckley LE10 0FR and at the offices of North-West Leicestershire District Council, Council Offices, Coalville, Leicestershire LE67 3FJ. A copy of the notice has also been sent to Appleby Magna, Sheepy, Twycross and Witherley Parish Councils to be posted on their Parish Notice Boards.

Objections to the proposals, specifying the grounds on which they are made, should be sent in writing to the undersigned by not later than 8th October 2025 quoting reference HTWMT/5484.
