New Bedford Road - Temporary Road Closures

What is happening?

THE BOROUGH OF LUTON
(VARIOUS ROADS)
(TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURES) (No.36) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is hereby given that Luton Borough Council, the Highway Authority for the said Borough, intends to make the above Order under the relevant provisions of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended).

The Order will come into operation on 4th October 2025 for a period of 18 months or when the proposed works have been completed, whichever is the earlier. Specific dates and times will be signed locally. The Order will therefore be in operation during such date and time and to such extent as indicated by traffic signs, barriers or cones.

The effect of the Order will allow the Council to close to vehicular traffic the following roads and lengths of roads:
New Bedford Road from its junction with Luton Busway Entrance to its junction with Mill Street. Diversion route via New Bedford Road, Gordon Street, Upper George Street, Alma Link, Inkerman Street, Dunstable Road, Telford Way. Alternatively, via Inkerman Street, Dunstable Road, Telford Way. Bus Lane Diversion via, Telford Way Roundabout, Hucklesby Way, Crescent Road, Crawley Green Road, St Marys Roundabout, St Marys Road, Church Street. Anticipated date and times of closure 4th October 2025 for 24 hours.
Kestrel Way from a point outside 134 Kestrel Way to its junction with Goldcrest Close on Ravenhill Way. Diversion route via Pastures Way. Anticipated date and times of closure 6th October 2025 for 24 hours.

The Order is intended to create a window for the works to be done and it is anticipated that the works will be completed over a period as described above. The purpose of the Order is to enable Affinity Water to carry out repair and water main replacement works. Access will be maintained as best as possible to properties where this may be done safely whilst such works are being carried out and diversions for traffic where available will be marked by signs.
