Multiple Roads, Luton - emporary Road Closures
What is happening?
THE BOROUGH OF LUTON
(VARIOUS ROADS)
(TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURES) (No.37) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is hereby given that Luton Borough Council, the Highway Authority for the said Borough, intends to make the above Order under the relevant provisions of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended).
The Order will come into operation on 6th October 2025 for a period of 18 months or when the proposed works have been completed, whichever is the earlier. Specific dates and times will be signed locally. The Order will therefore be in operation during such date and time and to such extent as indicated by traffic signs, barriers or cones.
The effect of the Order will allow the Council to close to vehicular traffic the following roads and lengths of roads:
Durbar Road The whole road. Diversion route via Dunstable Road, Medina Road. Alternatively, via Dunstable Road, Chatsworth Road, Portland Road. Anticipated date and times of closure 4th October 2025.
Portland Road The whole road. Diversion route Phase 4 Kingsway – Churchill via Kingsway, Dunstable Road, Churchill Road. Alternatively, via Portland Road, Beresford Road, Dunstable Road, Kingsway. Phase 3 Churchill – Medina via Medina Road, Dunstable Road, Kingsway. Phase 2 Beresford – Medina via Beresford Road, Dunstable Road, Medina Road. Phase 1 Medina – Highfield Road via Highfield Road, Dunstable Road, Medina Road. Anticipated date and times of closure 27th October 2025.
Putteridge Road from its junction with Ashcroft Road to its junction with Putteridge Road. Diversion route via Canon Lane, Hitchin Road, Wigmore Lane. Anticipated date and times of closure 18th October 2025.
The Order is intended to create a window for the works to be done and it is anticipated that the works will be completed over a period within the date described as above. The purpose of the Order is to enable Cadent Gas to carry out mains replacement and remedial gas works. Access will be maintained as best as possible to properties where this may be done safely whilst such works are being carried out and diversions for traffic will be marked by signs.
